The Blacktail Snapper is similar in size and shape to the far more common Bluestripe Snapper. Unlike the Bluestripes, the Blacktails are more solitary and do not form groups often.
The surf was small on this morning, but it would have been good at Duranbah. However, you will be lucky to have found a parking space at this time of year. I took this photo of a father and son team as they entered the water. It's just a snap for the sake of taking a photo. tide

This guy was probably around 10-12 lbs.
Daniel's biggest one was probably a bit bigger.
We couldn't keep them though because they weren't in season..... Grrrrrr !!!
