This Monster Snapper had stopped in the middle of the road. A group of us helped encourage it to move on before it ate a car or became turtle soup
Clouds on the horizon as the sun rises, with a dark cloud approaching from the south. I was lucky to catch a beautiful sunrise in between.

Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta, Queensland, Australia.
Lindsey saw a tiny turtle crossing the road on Saturday and stopped. I jumped out and grabbed it, only to find it was a tiny Snapping Turtle. It would not calm down, so I started rubbing its little head and it settled right down in my hand. We drove to a nearby pond and released it. I’ve never seen a snapper this tiny.
I came around a corner at Mud Lake this morning and was surprised to see this guy (snapping turtle) just lying there at the side of the road.
It was a very cooperative model. I took a few photos and then left it alone.
This guy (gal?) was crossing the road in the distance. I pulled over and walked up---it stopped for a minute, then correctly determined that I wouldn't want to get in a fight with him; on he went in to the nearby marsh.
heading back to Snapper Point this arvo, bit of an exploratory mission to check out Timber Beach, Ghosties Beach sea caves & whatever else we can find. National park closes at 6pm, sunset 5pm, not much time in winter given some of the beaches are 6km roundtrip walk. Bring on summer & daylight savings!
This girl was taking video of her boyfriend surfing. She made a good model to enhance the competition of my sunrise photo.
Snapper Rocks Sunrise, Gold Coast - Australia
On arrival to the beach, it was still pretty dark. I went for a walk and tried to find something completely unique to the usual shots you see taken from the rock shelf at Snapper.
As soon as I stumbled upon this small, aqua coloured pond, I knew this was the shot. I spent the next 20 or so minutes trying to perfect the scene and by using a darker than normal neutral density filter, I was able to create a darker, more menacing looking sky.
