Perhaps one of the better distractions in my office is a mini etch a sketch. Students and professors alike appreciate the activity. #smallthings #happy

dr_jt_taylor: Man, I could never make anything on that thing. I was forever shaking it to start over.

I like the big picture as much as the next guy. However, it seems the more I pay attention to the little things, quite often just before I step on them, the more simple beauty I discover. This shell was on the beach in Mobile Alabama. The more I looked at it, the more I liked the small simple details of life washed up on the beach.
i photographed this dragonfly eating a fly on the firetrail near where i live ..
for ppl who dont know the anatomy of dragonflies ..this one has it's mouth wide open ..
also, as they eat a fly, i'm not sure exactly how, but gradually the 'meal' loses shape and becomes like a black gooey mass .. maybe the dragonfly's juices break it down .. this is all visible before being swallowed .. its extremely gross and very interesting .. !!

I found the spider here fascinating, she set up housekeeping in a fake plant, and the grandbabies noticed her. K. isn't nuts about spiders, she finds my ease with them wierd. Anyway she's a harmless little garden spider, and I think my daughter didn't want to do anything about her with me around. My people don't kill spiders, there is a gaes on our family about that.
