Cathy made slow cooker coq au vin for dinner my first night, figuring I'd be tired from my flight. I felt guilty because it was HER BIRTHDAY that day, but the coq au vin was delicious. I treated her to dinner later in my visit.

In the background is the almost no-knead bread: it turned out well. The lighting in our kitchen is terrible for photographs but this time of year the only natural light I can get is at lunch time, and even then it's so dark here in the winter that I need a tripod even then.
Less attractive after I attacked it with the immersion blender, but I like my soups thick.
