More recipe experimentation. I wanted to cook one of those flavored pork loins in the crock pot so I searched for some recipes and ended up making up my own. Here it is:

 

Slow Cooker Mushroom Pork Tenderloin

1 Pork Tenderloin (i used a 2lb Parmisain crusted one that was not frozen)

2 cans of cream of mushroom soup

1 cup of chopped baby portabello mushrooms

1/4 of an onion - sliced into rings

1 tablespoon of dry Italian dressing mix

5 dashes of worcheshire sauce

several shakes of pepper

1 cup of chicken broth

 

Combine all of these ingredients in the crock pot and cook on low for 7 hours.

 

After I took the soup that was in the crockpot and mixed it with 2-3 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of flour to make a roux which we served over egg noodles.

 

The result was really quite tasty even though most everyone that was eating it (inlaws, eric & eric's sister) doesn't like mushrooms. The meat was very tender and moist.

The KBC had a private pig roast recently, by invitation only, for their regulars. Free food and beer; gotta love it.

 

Kingston Brewing Company; Kingston, Ontario.

Onder: stoofpeertjes in rode wijn, port, suiker, kaneel, vanille.

Boven: stoofpeertjes in witte zoete wijn, port, rietsuiker, jonge gember, citroengras, kaneel, vanille.

 

Beide geen groot succes, waarschijnlijk door de vanille. Vind ik er niet bij passen. Bovendien lijkt het of er vieze dingetjes in dobberen. Maar dat zijn dus de vanilleprutjes uit die schil.

J made this for dinner tonight. Ingredients included chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, curry powder, cauliflower, peas, etc. Note the plastic liner, which makes cleanup much easier. This is the "before" picture; I didn't take an "after" picture because I didn't want to fog up my camera.

I added a touch of instant espresso and replaced whole milk with buttermilk for my cake. The batter is thick as the recipe promised.

Beef and beer, what could be better?

 

Corned beef braised in Guinness with cabbage, potatoes and carrots and a rich gravy made from the braising liquid.

Crockpot chicken mole recipe over brown rice with toasted almond slivers on top.

Stirred in the chopped bittersweet chocolate for a good dose of chocolate flavour.

Another no-fuss hot-weather meal...

Rough chopped Celery, Carrots, whole garlic cloves, and quartered onions. Shoulder roast seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, sea salt, coarse pepper, and Emeril's Essence.

Couple tablespoons of small pearl Tapioca, a Couple Bay leaves, a couple sprigs of Rosemary, and water just cover the bottom of the roast.

Cook on low for 8 hours.

I've been making chicken in the crockpot lately. Nice to have a big tub of cooked chicken for...stuff!

I make my carnitas in the croc-pot, so tonight this will be delicious and we will wrap it up in warm tortillas and enjoy it thoroughly!

This is Pork Shoulder, Rosemary, Garlic, Soy Sauce, White Vinegar & Honey, it will cook all day in the croc-pot getting soft and flavorful.

My first attempt with Slow Cooker

I'm going to work my way through this little lot* in alphabetical order.

 

First up, I ate a pack of Bacon Super Noodles. The sachet of 'flavour' smelt like Bacon Frazzles, I enjoyed them and will be using this as a benchmark for the others which I will be consuming over the next week or so.

 

Bacon Flavour: 6 out of 10

   

* There are more than six flavours, but the special offer was based on multiples of three - and I didn't want to splash out on too many packs at once.

the October Bon Appetit magazine recipe called for running all the veggies thru the food mill, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

 

I served it on grilled french bread and finished it with balsamic vinegar.

Tweaked from this recipe, but I throw the mushrooms in the cooker instead of sauteeing them later on.

 

Probably best at large size.
