It's just after sunrise as the westbound Ski Train races west near Leyden, Colorado, with Amtrak GE P42DC No. 42, the Veterans unit, on point on March 14, 2015. Downtown Denver can be seen to the right of the train.
Backcountry skiing. While walking up the mountain we could see the peak closer and closer but didn't seem to be able to reach it. The dark clouds were gaining on us and we had to gain speed to get there in time.
It has no sidecut or rocker but it's probably the most fun way to get around a snow covered planet.
It's been a hectic start to the ski season and a busy holiday period in Verbier. Things are a little calmer now, so I've a bit more time to devote to Lego activities. I'm also storing up builds for my favourite month: Febrovery!.

I climbed up to the Bush Lake Ski Jump south of Hwy 494 in Bloomington MN to take a closer pre-snow look at the 70 meter big boy - my hands got clammy just thinking about it

Who knew that the best part of learning to ski would be the view from the chairlift?
This is Prima Dolly Cassis, wearing Ice Rune’s stock outfit and Barbie skis for the theme “Go skiing” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The chairlift is from Target. I have no idea what purpose it was intended for, or how other people use it…could it be anything else but a doll picture prop?
