You can see many black spots on the mountain(easy to see to enlarge this photo). All of them are skier(A very small number of people is a mountain climber)!
They ski down from the top of Mt.Chokai.

The Winter of 2025-2026 in Utah gives us the chance to ski and then go fishing on the same day. Too warm around here to freeze the reservoirs but if you head high enough into the mountains, you’ll find some snow.
Last week I went to the Pitztal in Austria to finish my next skiing instructor level. The Pitztal glacier is the highest glacier in Tyrol with the so called "Wildspitze" (3768m) being the second highest Mountain in Austria.
I got this shot on our first run down the Wildspitze in the morning, just one hour later the whole glacier was covered in clouds for the rest of the day, making this the lucky shot of the trip.

This abandoned ski resort looked like a really interesting place to explore, but the dogs made it less inviting.

Another skiing picture through the forests here in Kuru.The chap pulling the sledge is from Mexico and had never been skiing before in his life.
Appropriate for the landscape in Utah right now, this is a gingerbread ski resort complete with a lift made from pretzel sticks.

This is the view from the Urabandai Ski Resort. On the right is the butterfly pattern, Grandeco, and Mount Nishiazuma, which I posted the other day. On the left is the frozen Lake Hibara.

Cross-country skiing has a long history in the Nordic countries. Today, this versatile sport is practiced on ready-made tracks, as here in Ylläs in northern Finland. Even today, during the darkest season and in severe frost, many enjoy this beloved species. In addition to skiing, you can then admire the ever-changing lights and colors of the North.

The Alps (French: Alpes; German: Alpen; Italian: Alpi; Romansh: Alps; Slovene: Alpe) is the name for one of the great mountain range systems of Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east, through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany to France in the west. The word "Alps" was taken via French from Latin Alpes (meaning "the Alps"), which may be influenced by the Latin words albus (white) or altus (high) or more likely a Latin rendering of a Celtic or Ligurian original.
The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, at 4,808 metres (15,774 ft), on the Italian-French border. All the main peaks of the Alps can be found in the list of mountains of the Alps and list of Alpine peaks by prominence.
The Alps are generally divided into the Western Alps and the Eastern Alps. The division is along the line between Lake Constance and Lake Como, following the Rhine. The Western Alps are higher, but their central chain is shorter and curved; they are located in Italy, France and Switzerland. The Eastern Alps (main ridge system elongated and broad) belong to Austria, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland.
The Alps are a classic example of what happens when a temperate area at lower altitude gives way to higher elevation terrain. Elevations around the world which have cold climates similar to those found in polar areas have been called alpine. A rise from sea level into the upper regions of the atmosphere causes the temperature to decrease. The effect of mountain chains on prevailing winds is to carry warm air belonging to the lower region into an upper zone, where it expands in volume at the cost of a proportionate loss of heat, often accompanied by the precipitation of moisture in the form of snow or rain.
