Would have been first in the ski queues at Glencoe Mountain if it hadn't taken so long to boil the water for coffee.

In the cold, fog and snow, waiting for the ski lift to take you to a new exciting descent, at more than 100 km/h!

Living life to the fullest while being in peace, silence and fullness, all this with a lot of extraordinary sensations!

The joys that ski descents can provide are incomparable to all other experiences.

Everyone experiences it as they wish, at their own pace, the only time when everyone is equal at this level is sitting on the RMA seats!

Winterberg is an important winter sports area in Western Germany. This ski jump monument is located at the town entrance.

Finally a sunny day!

Spring skiing at Sun Valley requires frequent brew-skis at the Lookout.

Ski Joëring with one and two dogs at The Polar Adventure : Méaudre, Isere, France

Skijoring with a dog is a sport in which a dog, assist a cross-country skier. One to two dogs are commonly used. The cross-country skier provides power with skis and poles, and the dog adds additional power by running and pulling.

The skier wears a skijoring harness, the dog wears a sled dog harness, and the two are connected by a length of rope. There are no reins or other signaling devices to control the dog.

The dog must be motivated by its own desire to run, and respond to the owner's voice for direction.

What you see at a race is the result of long hours of work and planning to ensure that the team is prepared to test its abilities against the trail and the competition.

As nature photographers, we are most excited about the sunrises, sunsets, night skies, and inclement weather. Too often, we forget there is immense beauty to capture mid-day with a blue sky. Of course, having a perfect model in your back pocket doesn't hurt either.

A little fresh snow last week so yesterday the skitracks were super.

Mammoth Mountain is California's highest elevation ski resort with its summit at 11.053 ft / 3,369 m. As pictured here, still open for skiing in late July of 2023.

After dropping its passengers at the Winter Park Resort in the morning, Amtrak's Winter Park Express runs to the siding at Fraser to run-around its train and wait for the afternoon return.

Here, on Presidents' Day Monday (Amtrak ran an extra train for what is otherwise a Fri, Sat, Sun only schedule), the ski train waits in the hole at Fraser for a late-running California Zephyr. By schedule, #6 is supposed to run ahead of the ski train. So when the Zephyr is on-time or close enough to on-time, the ski train will wait for the Zephyr before heading home for Denver.

I went on my first ski overnight trip last weekend. Our destination - Taylor Meadows in Garibaldi Provincial Park. I had no snowshoe backup. It was sink or swim time.

This shot was taken as I was skinning up a ridge in the morning. It was fun picking my own route. Ian and Scott caught up near the top. The views were outstanding!

The 3 of us broke trail the entire trip. Somewhere around 25km roundtrip for the 2 days. From the meadows and up it was 2 feet of powder. Skiing on that was as close to floating as I've ever felt.

Most important thing I learned:

Don't leave your ski boots exposed overnight. Somewhere colder than -10c. I tried one on in the morning. Icebox. It took me almost two hours to thaw them out. Missed sunrise.

Along the ski-trail yesterday. A perfect day for skiing, still a lot of snow up in the hills, sunshine and no wind.

A tunnel that takes skiers through a ridge to another valley for more skiing. In the winter the thing on the right pulls people through the tunnel. Or so I presume.
