Townsville were lucky to host the 6 day "2011 National Water Ski Championships" this Easter weekend.
I went down two days in a row practicing my panning skills...which I tell you where pretty pathetic...not as easy as it looks. I did manage to get a few nice sharp photo's as they passed by at high speed.

An Alta ski patroller, last weekend, on the job. Working in Little Cottonwood Canyon, one of the most avalanche-prone zones on the planet, means a lot of very hard and dangerous work. On the other hand, Alta ski patrollers get to make first tracks on some of the most-coveted in-bounds powder there is. And they deserve it.

A clever and colorful fence made of water ski's. It looks like the owner is adding to it. My impression is that I think the owner is young at heart, colorful, likes whimsy, and likes to have fun. Someone I would like to meet. When traveling up and down Hwy. 35, there are pockets of small artist colonies.
The ski descent from this mountain consists of two sections: one 700 meters long and the other 1,800 meters long.
The Rio Grande Ski Train was leased for the University of Iowa's 2004 football season to provide an alternative way to get to Iowa's football games.
The shuttle service was a good way to help keep the streets clear of drunk-ass college kids pre and post gaming during Hawkeye games.
For over 15 years, the Hawkeye Express passenger train has been a part of the Hawkeye football gameday experience. An average of 3,700 fans boarded the train in Coralville and enjoyed a 10-minute trip to Kinnick Stadium each game during football season.
Covid-19 killed it off.

The ski mountain behind where we live is very popular. We're not big skiers but we've had a go and it is particularly good quality snow. This is one of the less popular runs but the snowboarders seem to like it

These contraptions are part of the cable set up that helped the skier bind the cables to the boots on a vintage pair of wooden skis. We've come a long way since these last saw a snowy ski hill.

We were climping top of the mountain called Konttainen. Opposite was Ruka and ski jumping tower. Wind turbines was right side, good thing...
