A delicious shrimp dinner to celebrate our first six months. If only I'd realized it was an anniversary date; Kalen reminded me the next day.

Recipe:

- 12 Large shrimp, shell on

- 6 skewers, soaked in water if bamboo

- 4 tbs honey

- 2 tbs melted butter

- 1 tbs soy sauce

- 1 tbs rice wine vinegar

- 2 cloves minced garlic

- 2 tbs homemade hot chili powder*

Mix sauce ingredients together and thin with a few teaspoons of water if needed.

Skewer shrimp using two skewers to keep them from spinning on the grill, paint with sauce and cook over high heat for about 3 min per side.

Thin remaining sauce with more water and heat in the microwave to use as a dipping sauce.

I'm going to try to marinate the shrimp next time.

I liked the lamb meat. The ribs were mostly fat, for better or worse.

Stick a fork in it, it's done! And so ends a productive chapter in NASA history as Endeavour is transported to a retirement home in southern California. Sponsored in part by US Bank...no, not really.

This was a lucky catch, no manipulation in any way.

The skewered shells appeared in several bushes; not quite sure how they got like this, but it's neat to look at.

I have no idea what happened to this little beetle. I found it dead, snagged behind the elytra on a Poa grass blade. I know birds will skewer beetles for later, but the blades wouldn't offer enough perch/resistance for them. I don't think it was in the right spot for a kid to do it either. The beetles look small and delicate (as with the blade) and kids would have damaged it all more. My final ideas are that the beetle snagged itself flying past, or that the blade just grew up through a dead beetle.
