This sketch was created by Brian Massey via Sketch-It. It's based on a photo of my dog Daisy. And the sketch only cost me $1.
I spend a lot of time on the train, and travel often in the wee hours of the morning. There is nothing more frustrating than having the train stall in the tunnel right before your stop. I was able to ease my annoyance by sketching my fellow weary travelers. I think we were stuck for 20 min, right before 169th Street on the F train.
My pencil sketch drawings that I have done through the years.
These were done going through different high and low points in my life.
Working out themes of "transport" for Illustration Friday, and then getting sidetracked (I was listening to the speaker - this was keeping the part of my brain occupied that would otherwise have been distracted).
This likely looks strange since her hair is thinning on the lower portion of her back. Sketched with a Tombow brush pen.

A scan from a sketch I did years ago of a dog called Boozer, Thanks to Tracy for sending me the scan. Boozer was a charming Terrier, and during the few years we spent together we became firm friends.
Artists, never be afraid to distort when appropriate. If you are working from a photo, there's a possibility the photo has already done some distortion of it's own and you are in no way obligated to copy it precisely. This 'copy exactly' mentality is a mistake the majority of artists fall into. The lion's eye, ear and paw have been enlarged since in the photo they appear too minuscule and diminutive. The paw is greatly enlarged and now looks much closer to the way it should. - phil
