Cards 7 and 8 of 106 sketch cards done for the Mars Attacks Heritage trading card series by Topps.

A ‘before’ card to Horror in Paris, card #41 of the original Mars Attacks cards set…

With a large stack of cards to do in a short period of time I tried something new here.

So trial and error led back to the first pair being the best, but without a colour background...so this was the way to proceed.

Mars Attacks cards first appeared in 1962, conceived and produced by Len Brown, Woody Gelman, Wally Wood, Bob Powell and Norman Saunders.

The Heritage card series is celebrating the 50th anniversary, which is now already reportedly sold out.

This is a sketch of two wires and a biggish clip that were on the table at CSTM (Connection at St Martin's) where I most often sit. This is one of my better sketches, imho. Two lights above throw two shadows of the deadly button finger doing its deadly deed. Sorry it's a bit blurred because of the long exposure in low light (and my shaky hand).

This sketchcard was copied from the book, "God: a Guide for the Perplexed", by Keith Ward. It was done in watercolour. I took a bit more trouble over the check on the sports jacket than I have before. And his hair should be a bit lower on his head. Wittgenstein is thought to be one of the best philosophers of the 20th century. This was a black and white photo, so the colours are mine.

mr nokkon wood, watercolour, seen from slightly above, from right and slightly from the front.

In his lifetime, Wittgensteim brought out only one book - Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus.

From Austr'a, Wittgenstein helped Russel learn.

Tractatus' logic make him world's praise earn.

M1Sep24-12cest, Hengelo, Overijssel,NL

the theme for this card, is +,x,-. Also a couple of Kilroys and some emoticon faces. These coffee cards are all about motivation. If I can sit in a caff with a coffee, do a sketch and have a bit of fun, all is right with the world.

So. That happened.

A rather unimpressive final episode with an absurdly sentimental, totally unnecessary 15 minute coda in which the actor clearly has usurped the character/the series, leading the writer(s) to lay down some drastically sentimental, and again totally unnecessary, bullshit.

Let’s hope the new guy quickly gets rid of the smart little suits, sideburns and pathetically trendy footwear…
