Main sketch was of the Prinsclaus bridge and the Amsterdam-Rhine canal in Utrecht.
The small sketch shows a Turk and a Jew as written by Erasmus and drawn by Holbein.
880 together
A winter sketch, nice bridge, can make me plod.
The Turk and Jew together worship God.
Key word "together" gives this card a prod.
The A'dam-Rhine Canal, is long and broad.
To watch the inland boats - its own reward.
Containers, petrol, coal, bulk ore aboard.
An elegant but unknown bridge ahead
Is on the skyline - wires look like thread.
Sky overcast, grey clouds leave much unsaid.
Erasmus, European, lists his land.
Islamic Turks - those Christians should be banned.
Messiah Jewish - Moses has it planned.

Cards 49 and 50 of 106 sketch cards done for the Mars Attacks Heritage trading card series by Topps.
A riff on Hairy Fiend, card #42 of the original Mars Attacks cards set.
With a large stack of cards to do in a short period of time I tried something new here. Repeating, yet tweaking, images and playing with grey tones.
Mars Attacks cards first appeared in 1962, conceived and produced by Len Brown, Woody Gelman, Wally Wood, Bob Powell and Norman Saunders.
The Heritage card series is celebrating the 50th anniversary, which is now already reportedly sold out.

this sketch was done from my German catalog. A black 'n white mugshot of Monet has been given my colours. He exhibited at the first impressionist show in 1874, where his entry titled "Impression" gave the whole group their name. He died in 1926 in Givernay.
