this one I did in the beggining of the year on my second sketchbook, by the way thanks to Fábio Bosquê for the huge gift! On this one I'm more into the fashion world, More clothes less "body".

In September 1973 I began my studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. One of the great art schools! That first year two things happened that changed everything for me. The first was that I started keeping a sketchbook, which turned out to be a lifelong passion. My first sketchbook was a small one and then I moved to a larger format (pictured here). At this writing I am on sketchbook number 275. I’ve also completed 8 smaller sketchbooks while traveling, mostly on airplanes. That first year something else rather significant happened. One day when I was shopping at the local art store my friend, Jim, was working behind the counter. He held up a specific pencil and asked me if I had ever tried it? No, I hadn’t. That was when I bought my first Ebony pencil. I remember this like it was yesterday. Previously, in my sketchbooks, I had basically been drawing with a fountain pen. I immediately moved on and used this pencil. I fell in love with Ebony pencils (as most of you know) and I am still drawing with them today. A lot happened that first year at Pratt 46 years ago, but I think these two things were most important for me as an artist.

Another sketchbook page from the Seydel archives, pen and watercolor crayon, then ProcreateApp for a few minor changes.

Sketchbook time! Here are some new pages from my sketchbook. Inspired by childhood nostalgia: The cat on top is the character of a cartoon called "Flower Stories" that we used to watch when we were kids. The stamp on top right corner is the cover of a TinTin book in Japanese! But we used to read them in Persian. I was in love with all of TinTin stories. They still bring back childhood memories.

These are some sketchbooks from the last year or so. I opened them to "interesting" pages. A lot of them have several skimpy pages. Some of them have million dollar ideas inside. Most of them have hundred dollar ideas between the covers.

I've been trying out a selection of Stillman & Birn sketchbooks.

I'm a snowflake freak and often when I'm in a bar drinking and there is nobody to talk to I draw, and when I don't know what to draw I draw snowflakes freehand with a Sakura Pigma Micron 005.

Day 6

Acrylic - Using cadmium red, yellow with ochre, black and white. I used a little coeruleum blue as a background contrast on one page.

Sketchbook, old postcard, pencil, watercolors+my hand and my head.

Riding the Yonge Street Line train to get to dad's. Great way to sketch all sorts of people but frustrating when I start a drawing of a person and then they get up at the next station... The joys of sketching on a train.
