I've been wanting to try the new pencils I got for Christmas. The scene from the window today is very low contrast. These Derwent Graphitint pencils are supposed to have just a hint of color. I thought they would be a good choice for drawing this snow scene.

I did a light pencil sketch first to layout the basic shapes and then I started coloring with the darkest green in the 12 color set. Next I used the light green, then the dark and light brown, and finally dark gray. These pencils are water soluble. I used a waterbrush to go over the colors which blends them and intensifies them. It's nice to work with color after a week of black and white.

Materials: Strathmore 5x7 inch watercolor card, HB pencil lead in Koh-I-Noor Technigraph 5611 lead holder, Derwent Graphitint 12 pencil set, and Derwent #3 waterbrush.
