Sculpt update on the Protomorph - Alien: Covenant and the beginnings of the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - both 1:18 scale.

Almost have the upper torso sculpt complete for the Protomorph. Need to complete sculpt detail around the shoulders and back. The lower torso and abdomen has a completed frame ready to be sculpted. A little flimsy right now but once the sculpt is complete is will give the upper body more stability.

The Newborn from Alien: Resurrection. A very early update - not much at this point but you can see where I'm going with it. Always felt sorry for this creature in the film...and it's death was HORRIBLE!!! Very hard to watch and way over the top in my opinion. Still one of my least favorite films from the ALIEN franchise but this beast was a great idea design wise in my opinion. They way it was used?...that's another story. Hope to have a handful of variants of the head sculpt - Neutral, "Mommy", "Fire BAD" and tongue LOL! Those that have seen the film know what I'm talking about.

Another paint work teaser of Zayne Carrick in Spacesuit from KOTOR. Shots taken with the Hipstamatic app on iPhone.

Lumbra Teaser - I am very happy how the eyes turned out - took about four attempts. The photo consists of two seperate shots. One is a closeup of the face and the other is an overlay of the same shot using a stronger light source to captrue the paintwork of the eye. His brow is so heavy, the shadows make it difficult to capture without some help.

Many finished pieces are lining up to be presented. I'm happy this guy is off to a very good start :)

Here's Jennir with the cowl removed completely - the cowl is a seperate sculpted piece made from the FIXIT epoxy. This material is incredible to work with - no limitations to what you can do with it. Props to Aves!

Yuuzhan Vong Commander Sha'Kel from the Dark Hosre comic series, Invasion. Sculpt is about 35% complete. Figure is a total sculpt - using Aves FIXIT. 1:18 scale, approx 5.5 inches.

Although difficult to see, H2's main lense is actually real layered glass, cut down, beveled and glued inside a small plastic tube within the droid's head piece, then sculpted around to give the look of the main lense. Looking directly into the piece you can see layers which give the appearance of a true camera eye!

Sculpt progress on the Protomorph (Xenomorph) from Alien: Covenant. 1:18 scale - Work in progress using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.

So yea, back at it! Trying to work on several projects at once to keep things fresh - best way to go. Slows down the completion time but you don't get burned out which is the worse thing that can happen.

Still sculpting on the upper torso - just so much detail that goes into these creatures. Worked a bit on the shoulder blades, the spine, the piping running across the shoulders. Began working on the lower torso as well - not sure if this two part abdomen will work - I'm gonna proceed with it and if it goes south, I will reduce the abdomen to a single piece. I don't want to do that but hate articulation points that look sloppy or tend to destabilize the build of the figure.

Hoping to finish the piping for the back, the lower abdomen by the weekend and begin the upper arms next week.

Finished sculpt of Zayne Carrick from Dark Horse's comic series, Knights of the Old Republic. The figure is almost a complete sculpt - Used Aves FIXIT as the sculpting material. 1:18 scale.

The sculpt is based on concept work from Star Wars Galaxies. The character was never given a name from what I understand but was listed as a Mon Calamari Tech

Specialist...really?...I decided a bounty hunter would be more interesting.

The jetpack can be used underwater or for short jumps over land - quick way of getting out of a sticky situation. The pack is removable.

Another shot of a head sculpt close to completion, with another not too far behind. Each shares the same facial sculpt, but I will be painting each one slightly different from one another to give the characters individuality - besides, I don't think the clone program was active in the New Republic...LOL!

Check out my blog about how I'm using these Neodymium micro magnets with my custom figures!

I will be making several 1:18 scale Engineers as seen in the motion picture Prometheus. This is the first completed head sculpt. I don't believe the engineers were clones of one another and each had their own likeness - this one is based on the combination of concept art and the Engineer seen at the beginning of the film. The body will be an entire articulated sculpt for each, with an alternate torse to recreate the scene at the end of the film.

iPhone shot - sorry for the fuzzy quality...Here are the beginnings of my Mazzic sculpt - a character from Timothy Zahn's novel, Star Wars: The Last Command, imagery from the graphic novel adaptation from Dark Horse comics. I'm resculpting the ears...originally placed them a bit to forward. Will be filling out the hair and continue working on the upper body sculpt as well.

Sculpt progress on Jonesy the Cat - 1:18 - ALIEN. The sitting version of the cat is almost complete with only the tail needing to be added. #alien #jones #jonesythecat #cat #nostromo #sith_fire30

"The TEETH! Fix the teeth!"

I've always planned to fix the teeth but had put it off while building the rest of the figure. Realized after the last update that it was becoming more of an issue to some...and I get it believe me! So before any further updates, I chose to revise the sculpt yesterday.

Sculpt progress on the Praetorian Xenomorph (Egg Morpher) - Aliens: Defiance - 1:18 scale. A work in progress.

A little less friendly I hope? LOL! Sculpted the entire set of teeth once again along with the rim that goes above the gum line.

The Defiance Praetorian featured teeth that resembled that of the Deacon newborn from Prometheus - human teeth (very creepy) with a protruding jaw that contained the fangs. I still plan to sculpt a version that features those teeth, just not as big as the original sculpt. Variation is a beautiful thing. #alien #aliens #defiance #darkhorsecomics #praetorian #covenant #nostromo #sulaco #sculpture #aves #avesfixit #avesstudio #sculpting #customactionfigure
