Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....
Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.
My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.
This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.
Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.
Sculpt progress on AVA - Ex Machina - 1/12 scale. Because I'm forever curious, I decided to do some vacuum forming tests of Ava's torso, neck and skull cap. The images you see are the results. Would like to find a tighter mesh but for the tests I'm excited about the figures progression smile emoticon #exmachina #ava #A24 #robots #aliciavikander #sith_fire30
Pulled some successful casts of the first phase to the Sulaco Sleep Chamber - ALIENS 1986. 1:18 scale. A work in progress. next step, use one of the casts to create the canopy that will be vacuum formed later. #aliens #sleepchamber #breakfastinbed #colonialmarines #sulaco #sith_fire30
Completed 1:18 scale, 5" tall articulated sculpt of one half of the Moomo Brothers bounty hunter team, Del Moomo. This character can be found in the pages of Dark Hose comics Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic written by John Jackson Miller and inspired by the artwork of Brain Ching.
Figure is a complete sculpt for the exception of the hands, neck of the head and parts of the feet. The sculpt was build around a custom built articulated frame.
Figure has 12 points of articulation.
Sculpt made with Aves FIXIT.
Hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
Sculpt progress on the "Dog" alien from ALIEN3 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting the teeth last night. I still need to add some length and sharpness to the canines of the creature but I was more focused on the lips and gum line as well as the spacing for each tooth this go around.
Been working on an idea to create the EVA suit Ripley slips into while in the supply closet on the Narcissus It would be a static sculpt that will be part of the Narcissus diorama I will be working on. The suit will only allow the figure to step partially into - with the rest of the suit sculpt opened and loose. My idea is to take cast parts of the EVA suit I created, hollow out the parts as seen in the image, heat and flatten the parts that will not interact with the figure and mend all the parts together with epoxy sculpt (FIXIT). This is a preliminary shot of the hollowed parts before I begin sculpting...it will make more sense when the pieces are brought together seamlessly. #alien #ripley #narcissus #eva #sith_fire30

The 1:18th scale, 4" tall sculpt of Starkiller from the Force Unleashed 2 is completed. This sculpt depicts Starkiller as he appears in the teaser trailer for the Lucasarts game as well as many of the promotional commercials...

Starkiller's two head sculpts (standard and "rage") are original sculpts depicting the character from the concept art and not that of the actor. When I have time I will go back and sculpt an actor likeness.
The shoulder armor is a seperate piece and is attached by a clear band around the shoulder.
The body is a full sculpt using a custom made articluated frame or armature. The figure contains 14 points of articulation.
Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.
The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.
Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
Sculpt update on Kane: Burial Shroud. 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79. Some have asked where this is seen in the film - it isn't....not much anyway. The body is seen in the main airlock via the monitors Dallas and the rest of the crew are gathered around and the next time you see Kane is when the miniature prop appears to be shot out of the airlock into deep space.
The sculpt I am working on reflects mostly the 1:1 prop the production team created to shoot a scene where Kane's corpse would make a return later in the film - please read this excellent article that defines that scene....

Much more detail to be added and a variant head sculpt or two to be made. Happy to be creating a not so well known piece of ALIEN lore. #alien #nostromo #kane #burialshroud #deletedscene #observationdome #sculpt
The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.
Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders
and legs.
When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Sculpting week off to a great start! Lambert in flight vest - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79. For the exception of the belt and some minor details, this sculpt is complete. Sculpted the vest last night using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Variants include Lamber in Nostromo T and Lambert in Nostromo Jacket (as seen near the end of the film). Working on some minor touch-ups to the beast tonight as well as Dallas and Kane upper box sculpts. #alien #lambert #nostromocrew #sith_fire30 #avesfixit

Build update of the 1:18 scale Nostromo Cafeteria corridor section- ALIEN 79. Poor iPhone shots so I apologize ahead of time. Intricate, tedious work...getting close to having both walls complete. A great introduction to the complexities that lie ahead with the remainder of the galley and the bridge. Looking good when it's all starts to come together though. Sculpt week began today smile emoticon Have some figures to get to work on. #alien #nostromo #galley #sith_fire30 (4 photos)
Sculpt update on the Alien Warrior - 1:18 scale - ALIENS 86. Completed the small scaled head sculpt of the Alien Warrior. The first attempt had the head too wide, the second was too short in length....the third though is just right smile emoticon The lower jaw is a borrowed cast from my ALIEN79 beastie. I plan to create some variants similar to the 79 version. Now - back to sculpting the upper torso and plenty of head sculpts that need to be painted. #aliens #alien #warrior #queen #hive #sculpture #art #monsterinthebasement
"Big things have small beginnings"
- The Deacon - new born. 1:18 scale head sculpt complete. Some have not seen the film yet so I will only say this - there will be two alternate head sculpts coming. You can guess which ones. Worked a bit on the body frame as well...more to come with my next blog update.
Command Pilot Station - Prometheus 1:18 scale - sculpt progress being made on the base plate to the pilot station. I hope to knock this out tonight then begin adding more detailed line work the clay piece before making a mold of it this weekend. #Prometheus #sith_fire30 #monsterclay #alien #nostromo
Scale shot of my completed Sian Jeisel from the Dark Horse comic series - Star Wars: Republic. The figure is 3.75" high and sculpted using Aves FIXIT two-part epoxy and painted using Floquil Acrylics. Visit sithfire.blogspot.com/ for additional details.
Sculpt progress on Deckard - Blade Runner - 1:18 scale. Sculpt featuring a version of Deckard sporting his trench coat. It needed some adjustments to the coat to allow better articulation to the cut in the mid-upper torso, shoulders and elbows. It also needed some finer detailing. Still need to add some additional detailing to the lower half of the coat but other than that this version of Deckard is complete. #bladerunner #rickdeckard #deckard #replicant #repdetect #sculpture #harrisonford
Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN (79).
Material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Clay
Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.
Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!
I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.

Build update on the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sorry for the delay - been a very busy week or so away from the custom world. Began building the framework for the MU-TH-UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" as I will call if from this point on. Also working on the portal between the chamber and the corridor that connects to it. Will be breaking out the Aves Epoxy to sculpt the padding around the door frame as well as the interior of the frame. The build for the chamber itself will be a slow process - I do intend and making it LED friendly so no worries to those that are curious. My concern currently are the details that will be going into each of the panels at this scale. hope you enjoy! More updates to come! #alien #nostromo #mother #MUTHUR6000 #computer #weylandyutani #weyland #diorama #scratchbuilding
A little more work on the upper torso of the Alien (1979) - Finished the rib cage and will fill in the segmentations tonight. The spine comes next. The dorsal spines (I guess that is what you would call them) will be sculpted and attached seperately.

Close-up of the Darth Vader head sculpt I have been working on . Star Wars 1:18 scale. A work in progress. Painted test piece with flat black and gloss for the dome.
