Singing Stones

The instrument is created with 100 river rocks suspended by music wire from a wing-shaped sound box and hanging in a steep arch. The strings (vibrating longitudinally) release their music as the performers dance and, with rosin-covered gloves, stroke, caress, and tug the strings. Ela Lamblin and Leah Mann gathered resonant slate from the Cascade mountains, stones from the Pacific Ocean, and rocks from the Applegate River to create this breathtakingly beautiful combination of sculptural stone, delicate movement, and symphonic sound.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: The Singing Mirabel probably has the best quality outfit of all our Encanto dolls. Yes, it's mostly made of the same cheap satiny stuff as everyone else's clothes, but the blue part at the hemline? It's a really different fabric--it's thicker and textured. Apart from that, her outfit could easily be confused with our other Mirabel's. I think the shoes might be exactly the same, but I noticed how awesome/detailed the mold actually is when I was zooming in on both outfit photos to compare them. They've got designs and a wood grain texture on the inside, like Dolores'. Her glasses look the same to me too. Interesting that Mirabel has such bright green glasses. I like how she chose round frames like me! The cool thing? The candle! Shelly hasn't watched the movie yet (we HAVE to fix that) and thought it was some sort of beverage cup for Mirabel when she saw it in the tiny pictures in the ebay listing we got Mirabel from. Once she opened it, she deduced that it was, in fact, a candle. When I saw it on our dinning room table after Shelly opened Mirabel, I knew immediately what it was! A VERY cool prop for when I eventually write and create a My Story photo!!!

An ornament on my tree.

This is the first year I've been able to decorate for Christmas. The past several years have been spent visiting various parts of the world. I have to say I like Christmas at home as much as I enjoy all my travels.

the unappreciated singing moose, you must find this to find the blue angel ;)

Singing Snowmen

Ice Sculpture Trail 2006

Norwich, Norfolk, England, UK

Was disappointed about not seeing any Swallows in the skies over the local area today, but one bird that has recently arrived to the local area did a good job of keeping me busy while out, and that bird was the Blackcap.

All the ones I saw today were males and a few of them were quite happily singing away. This was one I got in the morning. It wasn't doing the sweet whistle song that they normally do, but one that sounded a lot like that of a Nightingale to me. Well, they are in the same family!

Lovely to see and hear them singing again. A great sign that Spring is here :-)

I'm really sorry if the quality is bad in the video above. They usually playback in really good quality after I've published them. Might be because I've only just uploaded it :(

My first Meadowlark. I spotted it on a rural road on my way home from Gardner and brought the car to a sudden stop. The Meadowlark flew a little behind me and facing the sun, but I didn't dare roll the car back or get out for fear it would fly away.

I can't remember what we were singing that left me so passive and Fred so wild, but who cares?
