I'D RATHER BE... is the topic for Friday, March 18, 2022, Group Our daily Challenge
I'd rather be more forward-thinking
I was sitting on a bench enjoying the nice weather, then this robin came and looked at me and started singing at the top of his lungs for about 3 minutes.
That was so beautiful!
It probably expected a small reward...
but unfortunately I didn't have anything with me.
I'd rather be more forward-thinking, then I'd have had a few grains with me for the little singer.

Singing Honeyeater (Lichenostomus virescens)
There were a number od Singing Honeyeaters in the trees along the track behind the 100 Steps of Federation at Truganina Park. This one was not singing!
The beautiful descending jangly song of the Willow Warbler is one of the delights of spring.
Arriving here a few weeks later than the similar Chiffchaff most of them are now on their territories.
Taken today on Exmoor.
Lovely to see a lot of these warblers singing on the Clifftops of North Cornwall.
Very hard to get close to but using a bag hide i was able to get close to his favourite singing perch this morning.
After being awarded a place in Explore with the previous image, I've thought I should have the Singing Honeyeater in its full glory in my collection on Flickr too. This is another bird on a coastal shrub. facing the ocean.

Eso es lo que parace que esté haciendo esta hembra de Trithemis annulata con el extremo de la planta.
Tomada en Quesa (Valencia).
That's what this female of Trithemis annulata seems to be doing with the end of the plant.
Taken in Quesa (Valencia).
This Green Heron was just singing away while we snapped away. Compared with most herons, Green Herons are short and stocky, with relatively short legs and thick necks that are often drawn up against their bodies. They have broad, rounded wings and a long, daggerlike bill. The Green Heron will hunt by standing still at the water’s edge, in vegetation, or by walking slowly in shallow water. When a fish approaches, the heron lunges and darts its head, grasping (or sometimes spearing) the fish with its heavy bill.

Prairie Warbler singing at the top of his lungs that rising buzzy bee metallic tune. Well, my 2018 warbler campaign is about done. Not enough time this Spring to achieve the goals I had set forth for warblers. The Cerulean and Blackburnian will have to wait until next season. On to shorebirds and waders! Please view large for best experience.
Once again, thanks to all who drop by my Photostream. Your faves and comments are much appreciated ~

The Singing Ringing Tree is a wind powered sound sculpture resembling a tree. set in the landscape of the Pennine hill range overlooking Burnley, in Lancashire, England.
In the Pötzleinsdorf Palace Park
"The four figures on the pilasters of the attic of the Vienna Ring Theater, the so-called "Singing Quartet" (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), survived the fire of the Ring Theater on December 8, 1881 by over 100 years and now stand as figurines in the front park area. They were placed on the theater by the architect Emil von Förster in 1874 and were acquired by Max Schmidt after the fire and moved to the park."

I spotted this handsome male Dartford Warbler singing for spring last weekend, he certainly brightened up a gloomy day.
A male White-crowned Sparrow singing his heart out on an early spring evening.
Young males learn the basics of the songs they will sing as an adult during the first two or three months of their life. They don't directly learn from their fathers, but rather from the generalized song environment of their natal environment.
Because male White-crowned Sparrows learn the songs they grow up with and typically breed close to where they were raised, song dialects frequently form. Males on the edge of two dialects may be bilingual and able to sing both dialects.
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
praise for the morning
praise for them springing fresh from the world

I had followed this bird for a couple of mintues as it worked through some pine branches. Impossible to get a clear shot.
It dropped onto the bush below, paused, gave a shrill call, and immediately dived into the depths of the lignum.
