Even poor Alfie has to wear a mask! Alfie's Restaurant in Ormond By the Sea, Florida took a humorous approach to dealing with the Coronavirus. Alfie greets you as you walk in, and is also a good reminder to put on a mask before coming in contact with others!
The governor of Florida lifted the mask regulations for the state, and overruled the individual cities' ordinances. Since he did, many people, mostly younger ones and some middle aged folks, have been refusing to wear them. People pretend to have forgotten their masks, though they have them in their cars. It's been scary for people like me who have some lung issues. The inconsideration of others, backed by the governor, has made going to work a risky proposition for many, and it will probably be a while before I will venture into another restaurant. Alfie's was great when I went there last month before he lifted the restrictions, as they taped off tables for social distancing and the wait staff all wore masks. I'm not sure if they are still doing it, though.
Since President Trump has had the Coronavirus, you'd think the Republican party would take this disease a little more seriously, but it doesn't seem like they will. It is the one big thing I disagree with them on. I hate that both parties have turned this into a political issue more than a health issue. 2020 has been a difficult year, to say the least, and the sign of the times is here to stay. Back a few years ago, they joked that the new Florida state flag was a blue tarp, thanks to the inundation of hurricanes we endured. Now, it seems to be replaced by a blue mask!
