This week Canada Post replaced the “community mailboxes” that serve our little corner of Fallingbrook with these fancy new ones that have WAY MORE oversized parcel slots.

The previous mailboxes had the same number of mail slots, but only 2 oversized ones for parcels. Now there are 11!

Just goes to show how much more parcel delivery is happening vs 25+ years ago when the previous mailboxes were installed.

I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy in this strange and frightening time. Look after your mind too.

Much love to all.

The old White Lion pub, Marsworth. Sitting on the Marsworth arm of the Grand Union canal, another public house lost forever.

Recent times have hit publicans really hard right across the country. The hub of many rural communities, gone in the blink of an eye.

Nevermore.

This pub I believe closed its doors for the last time back in 2013. Several attempts to bring either it, or the land it sits on have taken place over the years but it seems none have been successful.

Such a shame.

I was browsing through the test shots I took using the 50mm 1.4 USM lens and I came across this one. This was taken at the neighborhood park where I take my morning walks. Someone, whether an adult or a child, must have thought it would be a clever idea to tag this tree. The image speaks for itself. So I shall say no more. I just thought it was funny.

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend! Most of us here in the U.S. are probably scrambling to get those pesky income tax returns completed – deadline for filing is Tuesday, April 15th. If you are, take a break, go out and snap some beauties – flowers, insects, weeds – anything to keep your mind off those IRS forms.

A white feather has been a traditional symbol of cowardice, used and recognised especially within the British Army and in countries of the British Empire since the 18th century, especially by patriotic groups, including some early feminists, in order to shame men who were not soldiers. It also carries opposite meanings, however: in some cases of pacifism, and in the United States, of extraordinary bravery and excellence in combat marksmanship.

Would we be allowed these days, to use such a symbol as a Sign of the Times?
