Road trip to Kivik, Skåne. Sweden is slowly dying. It reached its peak around 1950's. There are some diners left, but only along the biggest highways. And everything is getting uglier.

In Sussex, England. Firle is a little hamlet at the foot of the South Downs (hills). Sheep raising has long been an important part of the agriculture of the Downs.
It's not immediately obvious in the photo, but the sign is made of metal and the sheep and name are cut out of the metal, so the dark colour is the colour of the leaves behind.

Sign next to the Cambridge "Bin Busker". Imagine if photographers (photography buskers?) charged every time they took a picture:-)
This sign confused me a lot when I first moved here. I wasn't sure if it meant don't go that way or go that way, but eventually I learned that it's actually two signs in one. The top is do not enter. The bottom is directional. So it means don't enter right. Go left.
Working to Become Dementia Friendly. I'm not quite sure what that means, but the idea sounds intriguing. Say a cheery hello to everyone who has dementia. Er . . . how do you know that they have dementia?
Sign on the window of the York Tourist Information Centre. One of those wonderful right-on government-employee signs that, when you think about them, don't actually tell you much. Like, what am I supposed to do with that information?
Take a photo, is one answer. Gives me something to laugh about too so I'm not complaining. I just think they're nuts.
This old sign was at the back of the parking lot for the Dairy Queen in Newberg. A new sign was closer to the highway.

New-ish playground at Harriet Tubman Elementary School in Columbia Heights, DC. No swings, see-saws or slides - just fixed poles and bars for climbing. Too high a risk of lawsuits with traditional playground equipment?

When I was in the London subway system, I saw this amusing sign. It's supposed to say, "Obstructing the doors can be dangerous". Someone strategically scratched off some letters so that it says: "Obstruct the doors - be dangerous".

This sign, warning that my hotel contains chemicals, cancer causing, wasn't on the front of the building, but on one random entrance in the back of the building...I'd think if you have to post such a sign wouldn't it be smart to require it to be posted at least at the main entrance?
Sign at the Central Park/Conservatory Green Line. I never really paid attention to these signs till I saw TheeErin's set of them. Used on Chicagoist: chicagoist.com/2008/05/15/cta_gives_self.php
I thought this sign was interesting because of the graffiti on it, it was taken in the cemetary, yes I am the Countess LOL.
Sign on a German train. Smoking is verboten but nosepicking is okay. Or at least that's one interpretation
Pedestrian underpass near Todaiji, Nara
Noboriooji chika hodou
"'Noboriooji underground sidewalk"
"Noboriooji" (登大路) is the name of the neighborhood. By coincidence, the kanji in this name have alternate readings that could be read to be the same pronunciation as the nearby temple named Todaiji ( 東大寺).
