A comparison of the currently available 11-12'' Disney Store Snow Queen Elsa dolls, deboxed and posed side by side. From left to right is the Classic Elsa 12'' doll (actually the Elsa from the 2013 D23 Anna and Elsa Doll Set), the Skating Elsa 12'' doll (from the 2014 Anna and Elsa Ice Skating Set), and the Singing Elsa 11'' doll (from the 2014 Elsa Deluxe Singing Doll Set). I have previously done a comparative review of the Classic Elsa and Singing Elsa dolls. I will expand that review to include the Skating Elsa doll, both in pictures and in writing.

These three dolls are all Snow Queen Elsa dolls of the same size, about 11 1/2 inches. The Classic Elsa and Skating Elsa are almost identical dolls, except for the difference in their footwear (flats versus ice skates). The Singing Elsa doll has many differences from the first two dolls, besides the fact that she sings. Following is a detailed feature by feature comparison of the three dolls.

Face: All three dolls have the same head sculpt and basically the same face paint. At first glance they are identical. But there are a few subtle changes between the Classic Elsa and the other two dolls. Her eyelashes are a little longer at the ends, and the separate eyelashes at the far ends of the eyes are now more separated from the main group, so they are much more noticeable. The dark gray eyeliner below her eyes is now thicker. The skin on her face is now duller in texture. The Classic doll has shinier skin, which matches the skin on the rest of her body. The following might be factory variances, but the face paint is slightly sloppier on the singing doll. In closeup the eyes and lips are not as smoothly and evenly painted as on the Classic or Skating dolls. Also there are a few specks of dirt on her face that didn't come out with alcohol, so appears to be embedded in the face paint itself. Nevertheless, she is very beautiful, and the dull finish makes her look even paler than the Classic doll. You could say that she just powered her face.

Hair: The singing doll have a flat hair versus the dramatic crown of swept back bangs on the Classic Elsa. The skating doll's hair is styled midway between those two, in that she has swept back bangs, but they are much tamer and flatter than those of the Classic Elsa. The ponytail of the singing doll is a bit shorter than the other two (who have the same length), and the braiding is an inch shorter. The braid on the singing and skating dolls are sloppier and a bit thicker than the Classic, so it doesn't drape as nicely over their shoulders. They are all light blonde of the same shade and silky smooth texture. Note that there is a great deal of variation in the hair of the Elsa dolls even of the same type, so this is only a rough guide to the hair of the different dolls. If at all possible, it is best to pick out a doll in person at Disney Store.

Outfits: The Classic and skating dolls have the identical outfits. My Skating Elsa has a cape that is perhaps 1/8 inch longer, but that may well be a factory variance. The singing doll has a simplified version of the Classic doll's dress and cape. The most noticeable difference is that the new doll has a much narrower cape. It is also slightly shorter (by about a half inch). The glitter appliques on the cape are the almost the same pattern, but slightly reduced in size and simplified. The bodice is also without glitter, which the other two dolls have. The outfit is now much less impressive. The Classic doll can wrap herself in her cape like a cocoon, but the singing doll's cape leaves most of the bodice exposed. On both outfits, the glitter sheds a little, but it is more noticeable on the singing doll because it sticks to her rubber legs. The hem of the singing doll is a bit more sloppy.

Shoes: The Classic and singing dolls have the same oval shaped blue green flats. It looks natural on the Classic doll since she can stand flat footed with her posable feet. But on the new singing doll, she has feet that are angled in a fixed position, even though she isn't wearing high heels. The skating doll has high heeled ice skating shoes that are transparent blue, and are inspired by the snowflake styled shoes of the movie character. The skates make the skating doll 1/2'' taller than the Classic doll.

Body: The Classic and skating Elsa dolls have identical bodies. The singing doll has a body of similar construction to the Classic doll, but of course has a built in singing mechanism. There is a battery compartment and sound box in the back. The sound switch is in her left wrist (on your right when she is facing you), and because of that her left arm is not as articulated as her right. There is no elbow joint, and both her wrist and shoulder cannot pivot a full 360 degrees. The left arm is also slightly shorter than her right. There is an on/off power switch on her right side. The other major difference in their bodies is that she has the old style (pre-2012) rubber legs, with internal knee joints and fixed angled feet. She stands 11 1/2 inches tall, a 1/4 inch taller than the Classic doll, who with her articulated ankles stands with her feet flat on the floor. The Classic and skating dolls have the 2012 style fully articulated body, with the troublesome hip and knee joints on hard vinyl legs. Due to the difference in the flat versus high heeled skates, the skating doll stands 1/2 inch taller, at 11 3/4 inches. They all have the same very pale pinkish skin tone in their bodies.

Accessories: The Classic and skating dolls have no accessories. The singing doll has many accessories, and comes in a fancy reusable box, but also costs almost twice as much as the Classic doll ($29.95 vs $16.95). She can hold plastic blue 'ice power' spirals in her hands. There is a small Olaf figure without his nose (as he was before he met Anna), and a light up snowflake disk. Also there is a very simplified version of Elsa's coronation outfit.

Summary: Aside from the singing feature, I much prefer the Classic doll over the singing doll. Her hair and outfit (especially her cape) are much more impressive, and closer to the movie version. I also think she is a more beautiful doll, and one of the best that the Disney Store has ever made. She is also a better made doll. The rubber legs on the singing doll do make her more stable standing than the wobbly and bowed legs of the Classic doll, but that is outweighed by the glitter sticking to them and the flats looking awkward on them. The rubber legs also enable her to sit with her knees together, as opposed to the wide apart legs of a sitting Classic Elsa. It is too bad that the Disney Store downgraded the features of the rest of the doll, compared to the Classic one. The singing Elsa is currently sold out online, and hard to find in stores.

The skating doll comes in a set with Anna, for $34.95, which is slightly more than twice the price of a single Classic Elsa or Anna doll. The Elsa doll is almost identical to the Classic Elsa, except for her hairdo and her footwear. There are no accessories. But the set is worth it in my view, since both come with skates, and Anna is wearing a brand new outfit that is not available elsewhere, and for those who do not debox the dolls, they come in a good looking box, and they are posed very attractively. I wish that the Classic Elsa doll would someday come with a snowflake heels that are similar to the shoes of the skating Elsa, but without the blades.

Side by side comparison of different Tinker Bell posable dolls in my collection. They are by Disney Parks and the Disney Store, and are both full sized (10 - 11 inch) and mini dolls (5.5 inch). They are posed standing, supported by Kaiser doll stands, except for the Disney Parks Tinker Bell 11 inch doll, who is the only doll in this group who can free stand. Since the 10'' Disney Store dolls are on doll stands meant for 11-12 inch dolls, they have their feet in the air, and their heads are at the same level as that of the Parks Tinker Bell.

All the 10'' Disney Store dolls have ''Flutter Wings'' that are attached to the back of their bodies, and flap when a button is pressed. The Disney Parks Tinker Bell has wings that are attached to the back of her dress. Since 2011, the Tinker Bell dolls have grown progressively more accurate in appearance to the character in the Disney Fairies Tinker Bell animated movies.

Pardon my looking like a retard.

See, I have this giggle. This really retarded, dorky giggle. And it makes me look like that.

Glasses.

I have a thing for glasses. (I really do!) He used to wear contacts when we met so for the longest time, I had to try to convince myself that he was okay even if he didn't have glasses as I'd like. Only until after we started to go out, he would let me know that he had bad eyesight and that he would need to wear glasses at home. I was like, if you had told me earlier, it would saved me so much trouble... LOL

A MANHATTAN MUSIC FESTIVAL CELEBRATING VETERANS

New York, New York

The Memorial Day main attraction at NYC Fleet Week 2019, the “Side By Side” music festival welcomed the public, some 2.600 veterans, active military, and their families to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. Audiences were treated to award-winning musical performances, talks by with distinguished veterans, military exhibits, and activations.

Taking full advantage of New York media coverage and social media exposure, Britten’s project management team took full responsibility for conceptual design, printing, fabrication, and installation of stage graphics, barricade fencing, and an attention-grabbing FOAM3D selfie-sign in the shape of a guitar headstock.

A successful and high-profile event on every front, the jam-packed music bash was also the first-of-its-kind honoring military service. Britten was proud to take part, a feeling echoed in the words of Juan Serrano, director of Northwell Health’s Military and Veterans Liaison Services, who said, “It’s an honor to serve those who serve. No matter where, no matter why—no matter what."

My Size Elsa and Anna 38'' Dolls by Jakks Pacific, dressed in the Snow Queen and Snow Gear girl's costumes by the Disney Store. They are free standing side by side. They are wearing their original Jakks Pacific shoes, since I don't have the proper sized Disney Store shoes for them yet.

I am dressing up the My Size Anna and Elsa 38'' Dolls by Jakks Pacific, in their Disney Store costumes. The Disney Store costumes are size 4, which is for girls up to 40'' tall. The costume is a too long (especially the bodice and sleeves), and much too wide, as the doll is much skinnier than a child of the same height. A size 3 would have fit the doll better, but size 4 was more readily available from the Disney Store.

The Disney Store Snow Gear Anna Costume consists of a dress with a removable mini cape. The dress has a black velvet bodice with printed decorations and gold trim. The deep blue skirt is multilayered, with decorated organza overskirt, satin main skirt, tulle petticoat underneath, and a slip under the petticoat. The petticoat keeps the skirt poofy. The satin cape attaches to the bodice via two clips that hook onto the cameo just below the collar of the blouse. There is also a velcro fastener that keeps the cape together. I used safety pins on the back of the dress to pull it tighter around her neck and waist. I used clear rubber bands to tighten the sleeves around her wrists, so they wouldn't hide her hands.

The Disney Store Snow Queen Elsa dress consists of a clear tulle cape with glittery white snowflake and icicle appliques, bodice with rectangular sequins, a snowflake shaped cameo of Elsa, satin skirt, tulle petticoat, and a slip under the petticoat. The sleeves are shear knit. There is no closures, and the entire outfit is sewn together as one piece. The back of the bodice and sleeves are stretchy enough that it was easy to put the dress on the Elsa doll. I made the bodice fit better by pinning it in the back at the neckline and around the waist. I put Elsa's original shoes back on, as I don't have the right sized Disney Store Elsa shoes yet. As with my Anna 38'' doll, Elsa looks much more like the movie character with the Disney Store dress. But it is not as accurate as the Anna costume, as Elsa's skirt in the movie is a slinky affair with a slit down the side to show off her legs.
