Photos taken on January 10, 2009 of a former Shell Station at the corner of Venice and Vermont in Los Angeles. It has gone through a series of owners since it was a Shell Station many years ago.
1. Old Photo, LrC, Phlearn
2. I wanted to add the text "Shell" because you cannot see it in the actual photo. Also because I didn't know what else to type.
3. The "Shell" text is intentionally made like that. Also wanted to make my name look cool so I edited that too.
The Shell Project - Originally started as an exercise to test some of the features of my new Casio point and shoot camera but turned into an extended study of a single abalone shell. The series shows the results of photographing that shell at different focusing modes and lighting conditions.
This is a tighter in view of my 20 gallon long tank that is set up for the African rift lake species of fish known as multies. They normally use empty snail shells on the bottom of the lake s their homes where they sleep, hide, breed, etc. This picture shows the sand on the bottom covered with shells, rocks and a few plants.
While on Holiday with the family in Shell Island we watched an amazing sunset... who needs photo editing when they're captured just like this!
My father died 30 years ago. Among his things, we found this box of sea shells. It is a mystery to us how he came to have all these shells. He lived almost all his life in Colorado, far from any ocean. The only time I know of that he lived near the sea was during World War I. He was a soldier then and I have photos of him with various young ladies on the beach. Could he have collected these shells then and kept them in this box all that time? And why didn't he ever bring them out and show them to us?
It's a mystery which I'll probably never be able to solve.
The box of shells sits on a shelf behind my place at the dinner table. Once in awhile I open the box and gaze at the shells .... just wondering.

We have all travelled in airliners. Complained about the crammed in seats. Moaned about the plastic tables ,plastic shutters and plastic food.
Strip it all out and this is what one is left with. The bare shell of a Jetstream fuselage
I got a day to myself today. Hubs took the girl to the beach, and she brought these home. I'm glad the sand is by her bed and not mine. :)
