Fresh clams cured in lemon, salt, garlic and herbs and then served up with a classic salsa verde.

I bought a KG bag of mussels yesterday! I've frozen half and eaten the other half. I made a Marsala sauce to go with and had some pumpkin ravioli, which I covered in a load of home-made garlic olive oil (lots of garlic) and a splash of gorgeous balsamic vinegar. YUM!!

 

The photo of them is pre-cooking as they were alive. When I tried to remove a piece of seaweed from one of them, it clamped down on it's prize!

They're ugly things!!

(Sorry to the vegetarians and vegans out there!)

There were shellfish at the market--quite an unfamiliar sight in mostly-kosher Israel.
