A bunch of photos from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. This is a great picture, because it shows the canoe in use behind me (the Blue Canoe, as it was known around the Bay), with the older kids giving the younger ones a ride, and me recreating in an inflatable raft (that my father must have spent an hour blowing up). we grew up with double paddles and I had good muscles and a flat stomach by the end of the summer :) We used the canoe to get to Shell or other beaches, every day that the weather allowed. Tomales Bay, Inverness, CA.

This image was taken during last month's wonderful minus tide at sunset in Shell Beach during an excursion with Mimi. Winter here on the California Central Coast brings the best minus tides and colorful sunsets. We were hoping for more puffy, dramatic storm clouds though. Lucky we did not have clear skies. It is always a crap shoot.
It is still frustrating to me that Flickr automatically adds more sharpening and saturation to uploaded images. Just when you think you have perfected your image, you realize after uploading it that Flickr has done its nasty invasive thing once again! :–((
Most of us prefer to do our own editing, Flickr! And it is an artistic decision to post-process images your own way. Hint: take it from Burger King – we want it our way! Flickr should make a new sci-fi movie titled "Invasion of the Image Snatchers!"

This was taken during low tide in Shell Beach near Spyglass during the busy New Years weekend. The sunset wasn't as spectacular as others lately but ill take what i can get.. and i couldn't resist capturing these interesting designs in the sand!

Some dramatic skies of November of last year, Shell Beach- California

I took a little road trip to Shell Beach which is appx 25 miles
south east of New Orleans proper. A hard hit fishing community.
There is a Hurricane Katrina memorial at the end of Yscloskey Hwy....
both on shore and in the water. It's also an area where fishermen take
their boats out to the giant Lake Borgne, it is along the Mississippi River
-Gulf Outlet (MRGO) which is an inlet the leads to the Gulf Of Mexico.
Peron pensinsula Fence reaching into the waters of Shark Bay, WA.
Project Eden is a conservation project that aims to turn back the tide of extinction and ecological destruction in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area.
For this reason a 'Feral Proof Fence' has been constructed reaching from one end right across the Peron peninsula to the other.
Feral invader species, such as cats, foxes, rabbits and goats are being removed from the peninsula to give the indigenous animals a protected area to rebuild their numbers.
Seen sitting on the fence are mostly Pied cormorants.
