Proving beyond all doubt that steam is something that brings people together. A grandfather and his grandson look into the cab of 5917 at Central Station in 2008. There is no doubt in my mind that the grandfather remembers the sight, smell and sound of regular steam from yesteryear, and is happy to share this experience with his grandson.
It is scenes like this that remind us just how important our railway heritage is, as it forms a bridge between generations, a tangible link to the past.
5917 had just returned hauling a "Cockatoo Run" 3801ltd special from Moss Vale via Wollongong.
Sgt. Nathalia Karrer, 196th Medical Support Unit, 7th Civil Support Command, advised medical operations for the country of Georrgia's ministry of health during Shared Horizons 12. Shared Horizons 12 is a US European Command directed exercise conducted by US Army Europe designed to prepare the country of Georgia government to provide civil response in the event of a natural disaster. The exercise is “In Spirit of Partnership for Peace” and designed to assess the preparedness of responsible ministries under the country of Georgia National Response Plan in case of an emergency and identify and address deficiencies throughout the course of the exercise. The exercise will also provide insight to US participants as to the processes used by the country of Georgia and identify procedures to integrate relief if requested by the government of the country of Georgia.

I got this tattoo during my first trip through Australia. It's actually two tattoo's in one. A tribal band tattoo and a symbol in the middle. This tattoo is very dear to my, I share this tattoo with my two sisters, there's is on there back. We've got exactly the same tattoo, set on the same day in Australia. So this tattoo has a lof of meaning to me and i have never regretted it for a minute.
