Former classmates, current students, teachers, family and friends, and community members filled the lobby of Central Academy to pay tribute to an alum. Kevin Truong was a 2018 graduate of North High School who took many classes at Central Academy; he was a student at Iowa State University. Kevin was killed in a hit-and-run accident early on the morning of July 4. Mourners shared stories, hugs, tears and laughs in remembering Kevin, and wrote messages of hope and remembrance for his family.
Presbyterians Sharing supports Rev. Dr. Paul McLean, seen here with Elder Liau in Taiwan. Elder Liau worked on the translation team well into his 90s, until the Hakka Bible was published. He lived to 95 years old so that he could see God turning the efforts of a few into what would have once been unimaginable – the entire Bible in his mother tongue.

Wen you see a sign that says "Share The Road," they mean share it with other forms of transportation. But for the driver of the Dodge Dart, he thinks that you are supposed to share the road with others in a one lane zone. I can respect the fact the he may be in a hurry. But if he got into an accident, he would be WAY to late to whatever the heck he was going.
The normal highway is just a couple hundred yards away. It seems like he taking it just a little to far...

I have to Congratulate Daniel McGarry and all the young people that organised the fight against Cancer last weekend they are a credit not only to their families but to Ballyfermot and the surrounding areas they made the 2 days a mixture os Fun and Sadness but most of all enjoyable for everyone that took part. And raised a lot of money for the Cancer research while doing so. Well done to all that were there also and congratulations from all in the Ballyfermot Heritage Group

I found another jumping spider in my house. This one is much larger than the last one and the fangs are more colorful. I caught the spider in a glass jar to take it outside but I wanted to get some shots of it first so I caught it a fly and once he got into eating his meal, I lifted the glass and started taking pictures. He didnt seem to be bothered by me at all. I imagine he was happy for getting a free meal.
I'm sure by now the Facebook world has heard my little sister is finally engaged! Freddy said yes after Yeti (Brandon) proposed at our bookshop, where they met. We tricked her into going to the shop on an errand, which she was not pleased about and couldn't understand why it was imperative she go this evening. Later the call came with a giggling ginger on the other line entreating me to come because, "we are ready for you to take pictures Maddie."
Time to plan the wedding!
Oh and in case the being proposed to in a bookstore wasn't enough...Yeti made Freddy's ring. (insert smile)
Collaborating on shared heritage brings communities closer together.
Long-awaited restoration works of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery started in September 2014 after UNDP signed two historical contribution agreements with the Church of Cyprus and the EVKAF Administration. Apostolos Andreas Monastery has since become the first heritage conservation project in Cyprus to be fully funded by both communities.
Supported by contribution from USAID, and the commitment of a bi-communal network of heritage experts from both communities, the Apostolos Andreas Monastery is now one of UNDP’s key confidence-building projects in Cyprus.
The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, a bi-communal mechanism created in 2008 by the leaders of the two communities, is helping to rebuild peace and trust on the island through heritage conservation initiatives.
After a two-year long restoration process, the monastery is set to open for public visits soon.

This weekend was National Alpaca Farm Days, so I went out to the Kaw Valley Alpaca Farm this morning for their open house. It was an amazing experience; the owners let the visitors into the corral with about half of their herd (all females) which allowed for some amazing close-up shots. I got to actually feed some of them, and of course, I took lots of photos which I will be sharing.
