March 2020.

sitting in the dim glow of a late friday afternoon, christopher reads. the world around him fades into shadow, but the pages reflect the light. his fingers rest on the spine of a well-worn book, a bridge between past and present. a watch glints on his wrist, measuring time he no longer counts. behind him, the quiet hum of palma de mallorca—footsteps, distant voices, the scent of old paper and ink. his store, a sanctuary of literature, waits patiently. in this moment, he is not a bookseller, not an owner. just a reader lost in a world within worlds.

a man stands in the middle of the bridge, his face just barely caught by the light. another figure lingers in the shadows, unmoving. the city is still, but something feels off. is this just a quiet night— or the moment before something happens?

Walking through tunnels, whether construction works or movement in the metro. Porto Life.

caught between movement and stillness—he sleeps, the world doesn’t. reflections pass like ghosts, unaware. the sun holds him gently. valencia, you gave me this.

A lone, lifeless tree stands resilient against the golden dunes of Namibia, its gnarled branches reaching toward the endless sky. This stark contrast between shadow and light captures the raw, untamed beauty of the Namib Desert, a place where time stands still and nature whispers stories of endurance.

A distant encounter with a coyote captured with my Nikon D80 and 18-200mm lens at 200mm (300mm full-frame equivalent) while touring around the south rim of Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, USA circa February 2008.

Stumbled upon this photo while rummaging through my Lightroom catalog of Grand Canyon photos...never gave it a second glance before as I never processed any of my Raw images up until about a year ago. With just a few edits I was surprised at the results.

A shard of light slowly rolls down the hillside and into the glen to separate the shadows. That wee stubby figure is me against the light. A braw morning in the Southern Uplands looking down the Talla Water towards Nickies Knowe.

the mercat de pere garau is not just a market. it is a beating heart in palma, pulsing with voices, spices, and the rhythm of daily life. opened in 1943, it has always been a meeting place of cultures—locals, immigrants, generations of traders. but at this moment, it is empty. the stalls are silent, the knives are still. only a single figure disappears into the light, leaving behind the echoes of a long day. tomorrow, the cycle begins again.

Looking down Cold Grain & the Blackhope Burn towards Saddle Yoke & beyond. An overcast dull day with just glimpses of what could have been. The Black Hope Glen is one of the most impressive in the Southern Uplands and an area I've walked many times.

Goofing around with the Sony 16-55 lens today. At f/22.0, this lens picks up every spec of dust that's there. I spent maybe 2 hours cleaning up the image; still didn't get all of them. The SEL1655 G is an awesome lens.
