This is a garden area I started several years ago. On the right is some flea bane that has established nicely. Dead center foreground and background are some huechera that also are digging in, finally. Please ignore the pile of leaves in the back.

Soaking up the shade in the VIP tiki bar. It was soooo hot.

The hosta blooms are lovely this year. That pink in the distance is Phlox paniculata 'Shortwood'.

It's one of the things I love about the stables Shetana is at. There is nice shade.

Me being silly in front of our hotel window.

This plant is hidden beneath the shade of another one of the large tree/bush things in the garden. After cutting back the huge bush we found this was flowering beneath it

Things are starting to happen in the shade garden. The bleeding heart will bloom soon (and grow much taller), and the hostas and ferns are putting in an appearance.

Not much is provided from the thin branched ocotillo shrub in Joshua Tree NP.

Some white flowers in shade at susnet. What else can I really say? Shot on a Pentax 6x7.

Test rendering with RSL(RenderMan Shading Language) shader with JIT execution.

 

It runs 150 msec on Core2 2.16GHz, 512x512 pixel.

(1250 cycles per pixel)

 

The shader is composed of 1 noise function, 1 texture map and diffuse(), specular() and ambient().

 

Most time consuming part is pow() math function in the calculation for specular component.

Shade structures incorporate nautical theme in Bodrum.

The shade--has the shade vine. The sun needs it.

It won't be long until the bleeding heart is up and blooming. We had the tree overhead cut back from the roof last fall, so the bed will get more sun this year than last.
