Windsor, Connecticut
Taken in September 2018
Tobacco farming in the Connecticut Valley has a long history. When the first settlers came to the valley in the 1630s, tobacco was already being grown by the native population. Windsor, Connecticut is the epicenter for the tobacco industry in Connecticut.

We are actually quite curious about the meaning of words on the wall... Our local tour guide told us it means "Do not litter. Pick it up if you find one!". Glad it is not something funny!! ^_^

Great to find sun - and shade - at glorious Clun...
New addition to the shade garden. This pseudo Japanese tower will specialize in succulents. Ornamental sweet potato vines will climb around all the towers. Hellebores and hosta are on the ground.

I have alot of shade in my yard, so I grow alot of different ferns. I love the different shapes and textures!
Another example of that sudden burst of sunshine through dark skies. OK viewed large.
This was taken before we reached Lake Windermere, and due west of Whitbarrow. The pasture in front was bathed in strong sunshine, and this effect continued through the valley. On either side the land was in deep shade.
The mountains in the far background appeared dark, with only a small touch of snow to relieve the grey.
So many weather systems sweep over this corner of NW England, and the effects of light/shade are wonderful whilst they last.
Taken in the English Lake District, south of Lake Windermere.
