Setup for THIS
The setup I used to do my first attempts at smoke photography. I dialed down the flash to 1/64, 2.8 aperture, and shutter speed of 1/250. You can see the Homemade snoot I attached to my flash.
setup with two ikea lamps : ) , one nikon SB 25 1/64 power, and a LED torch.
The result is here. Have fun!
a little DIY diffuser (tracing paper mounted to a wooden frame) to soften the reflection being emitted by the light coming from the window.
this is how the subject look with ambient light without the flash.

AB800 shooting into umbrella camera right.
SB 28 snooted at faces, and near on-axis to provide fill
SB 28 back left with CTO for 'sunlight rim'.
SB 24 clamped to boom stand, and zoomed to illuminate the treehouse a bit more (was a hair too dark in the first shots I was taking)

Setup for Toronto Taste started Saturday evening. It continued all through the night, with Chefs and their teams starting to arrinve around noon. Everything was finally wrapped up by about 5:30pm Sunday, when, mysteriously the fire alarm went off and we all got locked into the ROM.
But the Toronto Fire Department camed and has us up and running just in time to open the doors for the VIPs. Wow!
Disclosure: I'm on the steering committee so while I get an insider's view, I'm also biased.
