Numerous sail boats patrol the Pacific Ocean from just off the shore of Santa Barbara, California. This one had a particular weird vibe for me even when I was snapping the shutter. The light and horizon felt a little mystical.

I hope you are all doing well out there. It's been a bumpy ride for me lately as life keeps throwing me curve balls. Here's to keeping on swinging hoping to put one into play.

The nets have been dragged out to where they will be set up side by side to form two soccer fields. Soon there will be so many girls and boys chasing a ball in every which way. The coaches will run alongside, trying to encourage the little ones to kick it toward the net. As they grow older the games are not just across town, They are across the province. Luckily we had an RV, which made it more fun as the trip turned into a mini-holiday. When the games were over, parents listen to the happiness of winning and the sorrows of losing. The joy of being parents of children in team sports, but it was fun, I think we can all relate.

Found a nice location tonight, not the best sunset but the cirrus clouds were a treat to see

"Every time my mother changed cities, she chose a new place further west, as if she were chasing the setting sun. We lived a life like two leaves carried by the wind: we changed places so fast that there was not even time to that the memories will be recorded in my mind "

"Sculpture is an art of the open air. Daylight, sunlight, is necessary to it, and for me, its best setting and complement is nature."

Henry Moore

« La sculpture est un art de plein air. La lumière du jour, la lumière du soleil, lui est nécessaire, et pour moi, la nature est son meilleur écrin et son meilleur complément. »

We took a break from cabin chores - jumped into our truck, and Doc and I headed out. Driving through an area that is dotted with ponds - I spotted a pair of trumpeter swans sitting on their nest. I hopped out of the passenger side intending to cross the road and grab a few shots. As I shut my door and looked down, I found a large pile of bear scat on the edge of the road. I stepped over it and then looked up - to my surprise this beautiful cow moose stood in a tiny pond that was not visible to the highway due to the dense vegetation. I instantly forgot the swans, why would I capture them when a moose was just a few yards from me. She was in an ideal moose setting, and she let me get as many shots as I wanted. I guess I didn't look too threatening standing there with only a camera.

A setting looking to the north while taking in views across this setting in west Texas. My thinking in composing this image was to use some high ground I was on at a roadside pullout and capture a sweeping view across this desert and national park landscape leading up to the Guadalupe Mountains. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation in NX Studio. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I made some more adjustments for that last effect on the image captured.

Common Grackle has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Near Threatened www.iucnredlist.org/species/22724320/131484290

This Common Grackle was one of several that were feeding on what seemed to me an unusual food source: the small seeds at the base of the scales of coniferous cones. This illustrates the resourcefulness of this species. The setting was Elliston Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
