Sunset Kuhio Beach.

Late evening on local swamp.

At the start of the summer this one is almost more of a lake. Towards the end of the summer it dries drastically and is more and less walkable. Still smells like swamp. :)

Reflections of the yachts in Brighton Marina. Been going back over some old files as getting twitchy not being able to get out with my camera lately!

This is Big Stump Beach in Oregon, home to a remarkable relic of nature, the massive stump of a coastal redwood tree, estimated to be over 1,200 years old. This stump marks the northernmost point where a coastal redwood has ever been observed. Its presence is a testament to resilience and decay, a poignant symbol of the cycles of life.

Thanks for all your visits, faves, and comments. Much appreciated.

Small, slender sparrow with short bill and long, narrow tail. Plain grayish breast, rusty cap, and black eyeline in breeding season. Not as bright in winter, but still shows a brown cap and dark eyeline. Juveniles are extensively streaky. Common and widespread throughout most of North America. Usually found in open woodlands, scrubby areas, or even in suburban settings. Often gathers in flocks in fall and winter. Visits feeders. Frequently heard singing a fairly dry trill. Compare with similar Clay-colored, American Tree, and Brewer's sparrows, but look for Chipping Sparrow's gray rump and dark eyeline.

Eastwind is a 65 ft. schooner based in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She does day sails, sunset sails or private charter adventures out among the the many islands off the Maine coast. The trips usually include wildlife sightings. In this image Eastwind has set her mainsail and is now raising the foresail on a day with good wind.

Numerous sail boats patrol the Pacific Ocean from just off the shore of Santa Barbara, California. This one had a particular weird vibe for me even when I was snapping the shutter. The light and horizon felt a little mystical.

I hope you are all doing well out there. It's been a bumpy ride for me lately as life keeps throwing me curve balls. Here's to keeping on swinging hoping to put one into play.

Hagia Sophia, built in 537 AD in Istanbul, was originally a Byzantine cathedral and the world’s largest for nearly a thousand years. After the Ottoman conquest in 1453, it was converted into a mosque by Sultan Mehmed II. In 1935, it became a museum under the Turkish Republic, symbolizing secularism. In 2020, it was reconverted into a mosque. Hagia Sophia is a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its stunning architecture and rich, complex history.

Found a nice location tonight, not the best sunset but the cirrus clouds were a treat to see

"Every time my mother changed cities, she chose a new place further west, as if she were chasing the setting sun. We lived a life like two leaves carried by the wind: we changed places so fast that there was not even time to that the memories will be recorded in my mind "

As the sun sets in Searles, the unmistakable sound of roaring 645s take a loaded coal train out of the the small yard. With a rapidly setting sun, the train slowly creeped along the bumpy jointed rail as the headlights and last bit of sun gave the rails a nice orange glow across the now shadowed landscape of the Mojave Desert. Within twenty minutes the train would be pretty much completely consumed by the darkness and would be left to run through the middle of nowhere alone.

Was another chance at a pretty sunset this cold evening so headed down to my sister's house along Middle River. With temperatures below freezing, by the time I finished taking photos for around 15 minutes, my hands were quite cold ... but it was worth it.

While this sunset was not as 'epic' as the sunset on December 7th, it was still very pretty, though a bit more wind kept the river from having a mirror reflection ... the wave patterns here are pretty though.

Being around the winter solstice as well the setting sun aligns well with the bench on the right while standing on the pier.
