I've seen those setbacks that I've had and I realized I – I got through them, you know. I still managed to finish school. I still managed to pursue my career goals. Maybe it didn't happen exactly how I wanted, but life went on, and people supported me, and there was always people to – to help me out.

A Warley batter looks back to see the ball has clipped his bails during a Halifax League clash with Premier Division rivals Triangle. Despite this setback, the second-placed visitors went on to pip their third-placed hosts by 17 runs.

Warley, put in on a moist, unpredictable wicket, found runs hard to come by initially, and were only 52-4 at drinks. But century-maker Faheem Khatana and Luke Duckitt, caught off the final delivery, added 128 for the seventh wicket, enabling the visitors to post a competitive total. Openers Nathan Madden and Adam Stocks gave Triangle a solid start as the wicket dried but the hosts failed to build on those solid foundations, collapsing from 70-1 to 181-7. A late flurry from Chris Metcalf and Tom Kenworthy could not prevent defeat.

Match statistics:

Admission: free. Programme: none. Attendance: 71. Triangle won the toss and elected to field. Warley 231-7 off 45 overs (Faheem Khatana 103 not out, Luke Duckitt 48, Matty Whitworth 33, Kurtis Whippey 4-84) 11pts beat by 17 runs Triangle 214-9 off 45 overs (Nathan Madden 70, Adam Stocks 30, Chris Metcalf 23, Tom Kenworthy 21 not out, Cameron van Rensberg 4-56, Greg Keywood 3-77) 5pts. .New Fresh Start program helping families hurt by foreclosure during recession

DOVER — A new state program is designed to help families and individuals who have experienced foreclosures, job loss, or other financial difficulties stemming from the financial crisis that began in 2008, Governor John Carney and other officials announced this week.

Fresh Start, a partnership between the Delaware State Housing Authority and DHSS’ financial empowerment program, $tand By Me, offers free financial coaching to help Delawareans get past setbacks and move toward home ownership again.

“Home ownership is a fundamental element of our economy and important to ensuring our neighborhoods thrive,” said Governor Carney. “We have to make sure that all Delawareans have an opportunity to succeed, achieve financial stability and strengthen their communities. Through Fresh Start, we are giving people the tools they need to help them work through economic challenges.”

The statewide program, funded by bank settlements, was developed to help Delawareans who lost their homes due to foreclosure, short sale, or deed in lieu arrangements, said DSHA Director Anas Ben Addi. They may wish to improve credit, increase savings, or decrease debt to put them in a better position to buy a home or rent.

“Fresh Start reaches Delawareans who have struggled to recover and get back on the path to financial stability,” Ben Addi said. “Losing your home or job is painful and a significant challenge, but with the right coaching and assistance, we can help Delaware families move forward again.”

$tand By Me, a partnership with the United Way of Delaware, works with nonprofits to offer personal financial coaching, with four coaches statewide devoted to helping Fresh Start clients.

“Our goal is to provide people with the information, resources and support they need to establish and achieve their financial goals,” said $tand By Me Director Mary Dupont. Since it began six years ago, $tand By Me has served more than 75,000 Delawareans, including more than 14,000 who have participated in financial coaching.

Today is my first day hitting the gym this year. I've had many setbacks over the past 6 months or so. From a hand injury, groin and the latest ankle surgery. I felt like my body has been falling apart. I'm truly done making excuses! I was once told this many years ago and it always stuck with me: "EXCUSES ARE TOOLS OF INCOMPETENCE WHICH BUILDS MONUMENTS OF NOTHINGNESS AND THOSE WHO SPECIALIZE IN THEM ARE USUALLY CAPABLE OF NOTHING ELSE!" I'm going to start being my strong and relentless self again! I want to thank my amazing supportive wife @yarablancovich for inspiring me. She has not wavered from her goals! #Day1 - vicbefit

Karoonda Hospital Opened By Chief Secretary

DISTRICT COMMENDED ON ITS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT

Karoonda October 20

The Karoonda and District Soldiers' Memorial Hospital was officially opened by the Chief Secretary (Hon A L McEwin) in the presence of a large gathering on Friday afternoon. The chairman of the Hospital Board (Mr H W Petras) gave a comprehensive outline of the board's activities since its inception, and welcomed the official party, which included, besides the Chief Secretary, the Hon J L Bice and Hon L H Densley, MLCs, Mr T C Stott MP and Dr and Mrs Nancarrow, Mr Petras stated that the board had encountered many difficulties and setbacks before its aims had been fulfilled, but he was now happy to state that the primary objective of establishing a hospital in Karoonda had been accomplished, and he appealed to the people to see that it remained as it was—a memorial—in the true sense of the word to blend and serve the people of the district for all time. He stated that a hospital must have public support, and he appealed for a continuance of the support that had been so willingly given for the establishment of the hospitals.

He expressed the board's sincere appreciation to the Karoonda Ladies' Hospital Auxiliary, which had raised some £276 in a matter of a few months, and had assisted in working bees and presented much valuable equipment to the hospital: the Wynarka, Borrika-Sandalwood, and Perponda-Kalyan Ladies Committees' for generous support, monetary gifts of equipment; the Karoonda Sub-branch of the RSL for its assistance at working bees and wonderful efforts in raising £130: the Karoonda District Council for its co-operation: Mr L Bernadi for his material assistance in carrying out the work of making the front approach of the hospital as it was at the present time.

Mr Petras further stated that he particularly wished to thank the Red Cross Society for its generous donation of linen, bed spreads, garments, and other items, and he wished to make it known publicly that the board deeply appreciated the assistance that the society had rendered.

Mr J LBice stated that he was proud to be associated with any hospital movement, but it made him all the prouder to be associated with a hospital in this district. He stated that both the Premier and Chief Secretary always lent a willing ear to country appeals for medical assistance and that they were always concerned for the health of the community.

Mr Stott congratulated the board on the fulfilment of their ambition, and he appealed to the people of the district to give the hospital their full support.

Mr Densley added his congratulations and endorsed, the remarks of the previous speakers.

Mr McEwen stated that it was two years ago this month that he visited Karoonda at the invitation of the Progress Association to discuss the possibility of reopening the hospital in Karoonda. On the facts placed before him on that occasion he could not give a very promising reply and he was afraid the people would not have a very favourable impression of his visit. He was pleased to state that his somewhat pessimistic report had not dampened the ardour and enthusiasm of the people in their aim.

In August of last year he had received a deputation from the hospital board, which had then evolved a tangible scheme for the purchase of the Karoonda hostel with the idea of converting it into a hospital. He was favourably impressed with the scheme and was able to obtain a grant of £1,000 for its execution.

He stressed the urgency of keeping alive the activities of the Ladies' Auxiliary. Mr McEwin went on to state that we were getting a young doctor from the best training school in the Commonwealth, and because of his youth he had had the advantage of learning medicine and surgery under the most modern conditions. He stated that the people had worked well in the past and he hoped they would continue to do so in the future to retain the hospital in the district.

Mr McEwin, amid loud applause then cut the ribbon and declared the hospital open.

Prior to official opening by Mr McEwin, Dr and Mrs Nancarrow were introduced to the public by Mr Petras.

After the opening ceremony the large gathering proceeded to the oval where the Karoonda area school children held their annual sports day. Time would not permit the completion of the programme, but at the end of the day Lowrie House, with 152½ points, held a slender lead from Perkins House 148½ with Ridley House 142 in third place. Two more events have yet to be decided and the final polling of the houses promises to be close and interesting.

Gate takings amounted to £13/4/-.

The Ladies' Auxiliary conducted stalls in the pavilion at the sports. Proceeds amounted to £26/12/6.

£20 from Ball

The day was brought to a successful conclusion with a ball in the Institute at night. Music was supplied by Oakley's Orchestra, Mr and Mrs R E Coward, Mrs R M LeMaistre, and Mrs O R Williams, all of whom played gratis. Mr V K Petras was in charge of the ticket office, and Mr C J Blenkiron was doorkeeper. Mr J Coombs, was MC. A buffet supper was served in the Institute. Proceeds from the hall amounted to approximately £20.

333 North Michigan is an art deco skyscraper located in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois in the United States. Architecturally, it is noted for its dramatic upper-level setbacks that were inspired by the 1923 skyscraper zoning laws. Geographically, it is known as one of the four 1920s flanks of the Michigan Avenue Bridge (along with the Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower and the London Guarantee Building) that are contributing properties to the Michigan–Wacker Historic District, which is a U.S. Registered Historic District.

Additionally, it is known as the geographic beneficiary of the jog in Michigan Avenue, which makes it visible along the Magnificent Mile as the building that seems to be in the middle of the road at the foot of this stretch of road (pictured at left). The building was designed by Holabird & Roche/Holabird & Root and completed in 1928. It is 396 feet (120.7 m) tall, and has 34 storeys.

The building is embellished by a polished marble base, ornamental bands, and reliefs depicting frontiersmen and Native Americans at Fort Dearborn, which partially occupied the site.

Luul Mohamed Sheikh Osman, businesswoman from Mogadishu, keeps an optimistic outlook despite challenges and setbacks.

Action is worth nothing without prayer: prayer grows in value with sacrifice.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

One of the first pages of St. Josemaria's Notebook 2 offers us an idea which is very close in a formally apostolic key:

"Without prayer, without continual presence of God; without expiation, sought in the small setbacks of everyday life; without all of this, there is no, nor can there ever be, true personal apostolic action."

This is a key statement on the economy of salvation - in Christ, first, and then in Christians - which the Author will return to once and again in The Way - and in all his writings. It will come to be the supernatural spine of his practical conception of Christian life in the world. Here - and it could not be otherwise - there is a connatural affinity with the feelings and practice of the saints of all times. For example, Therese of Lisieux, who exclaimed: "Oh! Prayer and sacrifice are my whole strength for me; they are my invincible arms which Jesus has given me". And this explains why Josemaría would read attentively - and recommend others of his followers to read - Jean B. Chautard's "Soul of the Apostolate": Echoes of this work are to be found in several points of this chapter.

A few months later he reflected, in his Notebook, on the future of the Work which the Lord asked of him, and he saw it depending on "prayer and expiation", which were - he wrote - "the strength needed for the apostolate of action." And he added:

"This will depend absolutely on that other hidden apostolate (to pray and to suffer). And just as the vast machinery of dozens of factories comes to a stop and is powerless when the electricity supply is cut off, so too in the Work of God the apostolate of action will cease to be fruitful without the prayer and expiation of our brothers." In September 1931 he wrote:

"The Holy Cross will make us endure, always, without listlessness, with the initial spirit of the Gospel itself, producing the apostolate of action as the sweet-tasting fruit of prayer and sacrifice."

In the Honduran Legation he returned to the topic, making use of a formula which would be included in The Way:

"My Jesus, and we will end with this, I don't want to finish without forming a resolution, no matter how hard it is. Our prayer takes on more value thus, with sacrifice. Let's seek a small mortification we can offer today for the pressing intention - of our leaving this place.

As one can see, the oldest formulations of this trilogy followed this order: Action - Prayer - Expiation, which St Josemaría expressed in the abbreviation A.P.E. This point offers us the exegesis of the 'order': action flowing from prayer supported by sacrifice. Just a few months later, so as to express better the message which he wanted to get across, he changed the 'order': P.E.A. It is the theme of the following point.

The trilogy of which this points 81 and 82 speak, is the central trilogy in Christian asceticism since the Sermon on the Mount: prayer, fast, mercy, which feed one another, as the Fathers of the Church explain at length and which St Josemaría synthesized here.

In 1929 Tarsila experienced a series of setbacks that included the loss of her family fortune and the close of her marriage and artistic partnership with Oswald de Andrade, which results in the end of Anthropophagy as a movement.

Interested in the cause of socialism, Tarsila traveled to Moscow in 1931 and was inspired by what she called the “great collective effort.” She wrote to her parents that she planned to acquire “a good Marxist library and do a lot of studying” upon her return. As a result of her visit and her association with left-wing politics, the artist was imprisoned by the Brazilian government for one month in 1932. Although this experience left her deeply cautious, she continued to participate in socialist activities for a short time and painted one of her great compositions, Workers, the following year.

The time has come once again for us all the reflect on the past year, to think back on all of our accomplishments, our setbacks, and maybe even some failures. I think that knowing what we feel we’ve done right, what we feel didn’t work out and in some instances, why said things didn’t go as planned will help us in the coming year. Go ahead and take a seat under the tree and start thinking. It can only help us to a better 2015.

Action is worth nothing without prayer: prayer grows in value with sacrifice.

The great fire of 1918 was a terrible setback to many businesses and homeowners in Raetihi. The loss of numerous mills slowed the timber industry but it continued successfully into the 1940′s.

As decades passed, it emerged that the ‘endless’ supply of strong native timber was running out. The choice to replant forests in fast-growing pine was there, but in the middle of the 20th century the ability to treat this new soft wood for outdoor building was not available. Raetihi felt the loss of the timber industry more as each year passed. Farming was an option for some but it would never be as high an employer as the forests once provided.

From the 1970s through to the 1990s, Raetihi fell into a state of depression similar to many rural New Zealand towns. While farming and forestry continue here, it is tourism that provides the next glimmer of hope for this historic town.

Due to various setbacks and unexpected things, I didn't find the time to see the famous Manneken Pis. Fortunately souvenir shops had armies of thousand little peeing boys for me to see...

The efforts to open up dialogue between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran took a setback with the killing of several high ranking Revolutionary Guard Commanders in SIstan-Baluchestan near the border with Pakistan on October 18, 2009.

.New Fresh Start program helping families hurt by foreclosure during recession

Governor Carney and other leaders spoke at an event formally kicking the program off at the Goodwill store at Lea Boulevard in Wilmington. Goodwill is one of three nonprofits with Fresh Start financial coaches, along with NCALL Research and Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware.

Information on Fresh Start can be found at standbymede.org/fresh, or a coach can be reached by calling:

It was between 1081 and 1101 that the Bishop of Périgueux cedes land to the Abbey of Cluny, then expanding. The Ronsenac priory is well founded and, despite many setbacks, the monks occupy the monastery until the eighteenth century.

Historical

The priory was part of the province of Poitou and regularly visited the messengers of Cluny, whose reports are a valuable source of historical data. Until the fifteenth century, the monastic community of Ronsenac, made from July to September monks, seems to enjoy comfortable resources to recover from the ravages and destruction suffered during the various armed conflicts of the late Middle Ages. This relative affluence allows the execution of a vast reconstruction program, which began at the end of the fourteenth century, which largely transforms existing buildings.

The religious wars seem to have due to the strength of the priory, which does not fall entirely on the damage inflicted on him during this period of unrest. This decline is increasing gradually until 1788, when the last two monks are called to Cluny. In 1791, the buildings were sold as national property. Thus began two centuries of various assignments (farm, cheese ...) that transform buildings and make forget the architectural wealth.

Today

Since 1987, following a change of ownership, the priory has gradually emerged from oblivion. The restoration and development undertaken since, among other things, led to the discovery of amazing murals from the thirteenth century. These frescoes (listed Historic Monuments) and important architectural remains make this monastery an important tourist site. (Unfortunately, the church was closed.)

To support and help this work, the Friends of the Priory of Ronsenac was founded in 1988 to provide support to the work camps, but also in cultural activities taking place in the buildings of the priory.
