Just a quick reminder to ignore the blather from POTUS and pay attention to your local Health Officials. Our County is now issuing stay-at-home orders until May 4, at a minimum.

Seen here at Ryde Esplanade on a wet day in June 1976 is Bedford YRQ / Plaxton Derwent VDL 264K of Seaview Services. It is operating on Seaview's regular route out to Puckpool Park and the holiday camp and appears to be carrying a capacity load. After being sold onto the Mainland in the early 1980's the vehicle spent some time with several operators in South East England and returned to the Island around 2000, now being housed at the Isle of Wight Bus Museum.

Leon Motors number 135, G473PGE, parked at Misson Church awaiting return journey to Doncaster.

135 was new to a Whitelaws of Stonehouse in 1989, but came to Leons after less than 4 years in service. Those 4 years must have been hard, since on arrival we found almost every window had been replaced (including the use of greenhouse glass in a few places!). This one joined two other Lynxes in the fleet - those had come from Southampton after an equally short time in service - and certainly made a change from the more usual Fleetline.

Well off my patch but a fleet that I have long admired, here is a Northern Routemaster in the superb livery of the A1 Service cooperative of Ayreshire in Scotland. It isn't intended to represent any particular member of that cooperative (there were many subtle livery variations) but rather to capture the 'feel' of the fleet. Without doubt it is the striking combination of azure blue, off-white and maroon that grabbed my attention, but the consistently smart turnout was also very notable. Sadly A1 no longer exists as an independent concern, although current owner Stagecoach has made some effort to keep both the name and the livery alive.

One of Eggleston's favorite subjects is retail signage, often distressed or handmade. This sign is neither, but does have an interesting "vintage" look with the color scheme Eggleston prefers.
