hunting for gold things when i am out is fun :) the sequins were all the same golden color-- the different shades depended upon where they were in reference to the light refraction angle.

I recently thrifted a sequined bottle-holder gift baggy thing--I had absolutely no interest in the item as it was, but, for 99¢, I would happily salvage the sequin parts. From the side that was missing a few sequins, I decided to try to make a dress with an improvised pattern and as few seams as possible, which ended up being this--with the hem consisting of a fold left over from where the gift bag was originally seamed (I did hand tack it in place), the side openings finished with a facing, and lots of hand-stitching on the collar, which closes with a snap. There are no side seams, just one back seam. After I finished it, I thought, "Y'know, this basic design could be refined..."
This was part of my EOS5 photo contest. I bought myself a little sequined dress - an event all by itself! - and used it as a backdrop. I then stood the candle on a mirror and sprinkled sequins on the mirror surface. I shone a torch onto my gold reflector which reflected off the sequins on the dress. I then processed the image in PaintShop Pro 8 and used polar-coordinates to get the circular shape and cropped the top half of the image.
Went to check out California Science Center today with my brother and his friends. It's so much fun! It's all hands on and super family friendly. It's a great learning center for children.
It's located in Exposition Park, right next to USC campus and the Coliseum. The center itself is free. IMAX and select rotating exhibits require admission fee. You also pay for parking, which is $10. Or you can take the Metrolink which drops you off right outside.
This was taken inside the River exhibit. The sequins are hanging on an entire side of the wall and reflect light. You blow air at the wall to imitate a river ripple. It's pretty amazing. I think this would be more jaw dropping if I captured this on video but there was a line of kids behind us. So we decided it would be best to share.
I had a great time here. I will definitely come back and visit again. There's also a Natural History Museum, African American Museum and rose garden. :)
I'm displaying Christmas cards in the hall. I pin up lengths of sequin waste and peg the cards to them. My wife came across this idea about twenty years ago and I've done it ever since.
The hereios of the We're Here! group have paid a visit to the Fly Me to the Moon group today. The actual moon has been obscured by rain clouds all day so the Moon on this card will have to take its place 😀

Another thing that you haven't really seen much out of me in 8 months... and why I book shoots during the dark of winter!
This is Lana Elyse sitting very still for a 26 second exposure in the dark in a dress she brought that was quite frankly perfect for the purposes of lightpainting.
Lightpainting details: A strand of fairy lights with an IR remote waved around while the shutter was open. If I set the power to low, the lights would go into a PWM mode, which makes the dotty streaks where I moved it fast enough.
Unknown store in Berlin, which had sequins implemented in it's facade. When the wind swept by, the sequins moved as if the facade were alive.
Very nice idea for an alternative cladding.
