Dear Flickr,
I hope you have all had a great 2009 and I would like to wish you all a happy new year for tomorrow. (I'll be in London -- I may take some pictures to post on tumblr.) Anyway, thank you all for the continuous support that you've shown me this year, I really appreciate it. Bring on 2010! :)
One of those pillows with 2/c sequins.
Note: Well, the Macro Monday admin removed this photo from their group. I accidentally didn’t follow a silly tag rule apparently. So, I removed myself from the group.
(I don’t mind rules that aren’t silly. However, rather than post in my comments for all to see that my photo was removed, maybe just nicely tell me first so that I can correct it)
Circles, for Macro Mondays, cut from a small piece of sequinned cloth: small shiny discs sewn on to fabric for decoration.
I've always been enchanted by bright shiny things. I guess I'm easy to distract. ;)
Here's a bit of historical information gleaned from Wikipedia...."Evidence exists that gold sequins were being used as decoration on clothing or paraphernalia in the Indus Valley as early as 2500 BC, during the Kot Diji phase. Solid gold sequins sewn into royal garments were found inside the tomb of Tutankhamun.
During the 1920s, after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, sequins witnessed a renewed popularity as a consequence of Egyptomania. The usage of sequins (typically made out of metal) were widely popularized as a fashion statement by flapper girls during this period."

Taken while looking for Sequins - a challenge in the Looking Close on Friday theme this week. I have no sequins in my wardrobe but I found loads of sequin encrusted clothes in Marks and Spencer. They look extremely uncomfortable to me and I wonder how many will be left for the January sales?
These were all gold and the red colour is the reflection of my phone cover!
Needless to say I didn’t buy!

HMM- the macromondays' theme for today is "in a row". i have two possibilities-- these rows are just over inch and a half inch tall, so axiomatically this picture is almost 2 inches wide.
Looking close... on Friday! and Sequins
These Christmas ornaments are very decorative, but they have started to go bald because they are old and a lot of sequins has fallen off.

Looking Close... on Friday: Sequins
The tree was a gift from one of the children I teach at Sunday Kids.
Handheld capture of a stuffed animal. Fun pulling out the macro lens taking in the small world around us.
This was my favorite taken handheld ... they are hard when taking at the low shutter speed and keeping the narrow depth of field. Took about 10 shots and this was the best.
After this ... it was time to pull out the tripod and manually focus.
