Hello fellow flickrites. I know that's it's been a while since my last appearance and I have missed my many wonderful worldwide friends, but I needed to take a break from Flickr for a while.

As many of you already know our talented friend Sheree has been posting her fine imagery and words for years on Flickr. I was honored when she approached me to craft the design & photography for her first book in 2009. It was both a challenging and rewarding experience to collaborate with her on such a meaningful level and I know that many of you joined in on the experience by purchasing and delving into the Martha's Vine story. This year when Sheree approached me to produce the art for the sequel I jumped at the chance to work with her again without hesitation.

So, as the new book gets it's final edits and is prepared to go to press I once again thank you Sheree, for making me part of the adventure.

And for all of those of you who finished the first book craving more... the wait is almost over.

Rock solid reflection.

As on any morning, listening to the West Twin Cities radio feed on this Sunday afforded updates on the constant progress of L506 from Cardigan Jct, to New Brighton, to Shoreham and Northtown. Likewise, I heard they had a pair of 60s. Conveniently, they had just gone into Northtown when I intercepted the UP transfer in my previous shot, so I figured I could head for Johnson Street to await their return with enough time for a pulla roll stop at Finnish Bistro. Maybe fifteen minutes after arriving on scene---pulla roll in hand---CN was calling to use the Foley Wye and head back east toward Withrow. In no time, they pass the very grown out community garden at Johnson Street.

My sunflower set is here.

The first half of this year was my busiest time of year. At the end of June I published the screech owl series- The Sequel - a story of a red-mophed and grey-morphed screech owl family. After that I continued to finish the series - The Prequel. Now Prequel is coming to an end and will meet you soon on Amazon. Here is the link to the Sequel: t.ly/ZnHW

Sequel to my last post..... " The Blues Brothers"

Kathy said to me "What shot would you like to get next?'"

I laughingly replied.."Three Blues on an overnight roost, with the early morning sun edge lighting the butterflies...!!"

Kathy laughed.....And yet.....

Common Blue and two Chalkhill Blues.Must have heard me..!!!

Slightly breezy.

Tricky getting all three sharp, as none were in the same plane of focus, tried many settings, and eventually settled on....f16.....1/50th sec....800iso....single shot hand held, but many attempts before I got a sharpish set of shots......5-36am.

Some nice detail viewed large......

Thanks as ever for all who ....look....fave...sometimes comment...cheers.

PS...

5 minutes after this shot the uppermost Chalkhill woke up, swivelled around to catch the sun, the Common Blue scooted down the grass stem, out of the way, and the other butterfly got knocked off...!!!!

Pals...HUH...!!!

A few things I already reported about my little solo effort

for 5 days Iceland. Here is a sequel:

On this day I drove to a mountain plateau. All the way, for hundreds of miles, the land was flat like a flatfish.

Then I saw a silhouette on the horizon, enveloped in clouds.

It looked like the base of a mountain, but ...

You don't suppose me to go up there, right?

Google says, "turn right."

The mountain, or its base, was on my left.

I turned right, it looked like a parking lot .....!?

No, it was the start of an off-road path.

I said: "4x4? I have, let's go!"

What happened next is from a world that cannot be described. I have never seen such landscapes, nor heard of them, or had any idea that something like this exists down here on Mother Earth.

Every hill offered such a spectrum of colors, every curve offered a new view. If you got out of the car and walked a few steps behind the rocks, a new gate opened, as if from another planet, a world never known. I crossed rivers with my car and by reaching the other side, again a completely new cosmos. It went on for hours before I reached the Landmannalaugar area.

My god, what a ride cross-road thru the mountains and volcanic areas. Again it felt it would never end, a journey to thru the Genesis of this globe, a travel thru time of a billion years.

You should watch me sometime when it happens. I'm jumping off the car, shaking my head while I try to capture only an idea of what is to see and to feel. I feel small at the sight of this, then tall that it's me to be able to witness this enormous ability of creating such a landscape far from this world.

May I was unlucky that I had rain all day every day, the happier I am to have been able to watch planet earth as the maker of things I never had the slightest clue of this beauty.

It's time for me to pack.

A time I will always remember.

This is the sequel to my Lake Superior sunrise picture. As I stood waiting for the complete rise of the sun, I kept taking shots every few minutes. When I was reviewing this one, I noticed how large the starburst was but discarded it because there was a bit of flare and the colors in the sky had gone away.

Not sure if it's worth posting but thought it was interesting how large the sunburst became. I did not enhance the sunburst at all, just tried to clear up a bit of the flare.

This will be the last post from this place as I already got a lot of mileage out of it. It was definitely a fun morning to watch the sun peak as it did.

This will probably be my last post for a while unless I find something hiding on my hard drive or I go somewhere interesting this winter which usually doesn't happen. This is usually the time of year my camera goes into hibernation.

I do like similarities in nature especially between completely unrelated species. These are the decorative stamens of one of our eucalyptus trees now in bloom in spite of the unseasonal cold temperatures. They rather reminded me of yesterday's sporophores, not being the same structure but certainly both to do with the reproductive process.

Here's the sequel to the prequel.

The hands and drowny girl are both Chelsea Roden, though she is playing the same role as Sarah Ann Loreth in the prequel.

On Thursday, February 13, 2014, mount Kelud in East Java, Indonesia erupted so strong. Volcanic ash has fallen to a radius of about 100 km.

2 years after the eruption of Mount Kelud still leaves damage there, especially on existing infrastructure, but on the other hand the landscape that was formed by the eruption was now visible green decorate the slopes and cliffs ...... so beautiful!

Cosmic Continent Sequel

Several years ago I captured this beautiful region of Sky and called it “The Cosmic Continent”, here is my latest version a very wide view of The North America Nebula otherwise known as NGC7000 using data from Grand Mesa Observatory’s System 1a the William Optics Redcat together with a QHY16200A Monochrome CCD, this combination is giving a field of view of approximately 6 x 5 degrees.

Captured over 3 nights in May and June 2020 for a total acquisition time of 7 hours.

(stay tuned for the hubble palette version)

The William Optics Redcat with QHY16200A and its 7 position filter wheel is now available at Grand Mesa Observatory for subscription, see here for details.

The North America Nebula (NGC 7000 or Caldwell 20) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus that resembles the shape of North America and The Gulf Of Mexico. It lies at a distance of approximately 1800 light years away from us.

This image contains some very interesting areas such as The Cygnus Wall which is representative of Mexico and Central America, the nearby emission objects Pelican Nebula (IC5070) and the faint emission nebula IC5068

A sequel to my previous shot. Even though I had a rule about no dogs in the beds, that went out the window long ago.

These two have an amazing bond. When Rosie leaves the house Bean is miserable until she comes home. He somehow knows when she will return and will wait by the door. When we see him waiting by the door, we know Rosie will be coming home within 5 - 10 minutes. How does he know?

Destination Unknown Sequel: Getting Picked Up At Tampa Airport... For Flying With A Flamingo? - IMRAN™ - (My 134th Flickr Explore!)

I love the feeling of having an airport all to myself. Even better to seem like I am being picked up for a flight by the massive but lifelike flamingo art installation at Tampa International Airport. I wonder how far that can take me. But I bet my at least one arm will be very tired. LOL
