i actually tried to CLEAN my sensor just before we went out . . . every picture i took has matching dark specks. i need to dedicate some time for fixing all my pics with the spot healing tool, but for now, i'm just posting some pics where the spots blend in, and, in my opinion, add a nice antique character :)

The magnetic speed sensor comes with a sliding bracket. I secured it to the brake cooling plate. This has to clear the brake rotor which you don't see here. I had to grind down the right hand corner to make it fit inside the rotor.

the sensors stopped reporting, so I did a visual inspection. Some corrosion is evident, but no liquid penetration, and no physical breaks. One string is down, haven't had time to test each sensor yet, but they sustained the highest temperatures (178 F!) and are only rated to 185.

So it's a light source, not a sensor.
