SCOTLAND…
It is early October and we are in Scotland, so the weather is ‘Scottish’… which means, some sun, racing clouds, fast showers, lots of light play on the hills and oooh interesting light.
As we are high up, we are closer to the sky, so; often the top of the hills are covered in eerie wisps of white cloud.
Like a lover’s caress.
The weather doesn’t bother us, we take it as it comes, everything has its charms and moods.
When in The Highlands, you just have to see it with mist and rain.
We stand on the shore of Loch Lubnaig, standing silent, stunned by such beauty, which changes by the second! I capture the rain.
This is again how it came out of my camera!
I’m a ‘purist’, lol
Have a beautiful day and thank you for your comments, M, (*_*)

I found out only later that "AgfaColor" film is likely ORWO NC500. Had I known that earlier, I would have shot this roll as ISO 100, as I know by trial and error that that sensitivity is where this alleged ISO 400 film has its comfort zone.

The sun was gone, but it was still light. I had to push the ISO or the sensitivity of the camera to 10000. In the days of film, this would have looked soft, lack detail and extremely grainy.
This image has filmic look to it.

My first entry for Space Jam, in the bounty hunter ship category.
Henjin Quilones III and his sister, Jenhin, escaped from the slums of Nar Shaddaa, along with their Twi'lek friend Veenac'ebla, and now run a bounty hunting organization in the outer rim, traveling the galaxy in their rusted old ship, Harvester II. They're good at what they do, though, thanks to their upbringing on the streets of Nar Shaddaa, and their force sensitivity. That helps.
The ship can hold two carbonite racks as well as plenty of blasters, with cockpit space for both siblings. The ramp goes up and down and there are light bricks inside the model to light the cargo bay.
It's inspired by the Razor Crest, certainly, but also that green bounty hunter ship from The Clone Wars, the one featured in set 7930. And I took apart my Slave I to build it, so it's got lots of bounty-hunting pedigree, I guess.
Tall Green Bog Orchid (Platanthera huronensis) has whitish green flowers, which can vary greatly in number and are typically intensely fragrant. This orchid is thought to have descended from a cross between Platanthera aquilonis and Platanthera dilatata. It is important to be aware of the ecological sensitivity of the location. I stay on the trails and minimize my impact on the environment at all times. I practice wildflower-friendly photo techniques only, to prevent damage to flowers and their habitat. Michaël Borremans decided to become a painter after a visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Face to face with Johannes Vermeer's 'Woman reading a Letter', it dawned on him that the medium in which you express yourself as an artist matters.
To Borremans, it was not the famous light or the sensitivity of the scene, nor the balanced composition and the crystal-clear painting style that were decisive for Vermeer's magic. He was captivated by the perfectly manipulated oil paint on canvas. That layered, fatty, glossy, varnished substance made the representation much more 'tangible' than any drawing or photo.
After studying the old masters – something Borremans had to do on his own because classical painting is no longer taught at art academies – he developed a somewhat slippery, but effective painting style. In the distance, you can taste the verve of Rubens, the bite of Goya and the cool blunt of Manet. Carefully studying these old masters he learned a lot. Nevertheless, he developed a personal style.
The images Borremans conjures up with oil paint are ambiguous. Emotions are kept at a distance; characters never look at you. On the other hand, gruesome things happen and all sorts of feelings are brewing under the skin. You never really know what you're looking at, while the representation is perfectly naturalistic. Is that blonde child sleeping or is she dead? Why is one hand red and the other green?
Voorlinden's guidebook plays with various abstract concepts, but also firmly encourages the visitor to find his own answers. That is not bad advice. What the eye sees begs for interpretation, so do not hesitate...
Vista House is an observatory at Crown Point in Multnomah County, Oregon, that also serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers and as a comfort station for travelers on the Historic Columbia River Highway. The site, on a rocky promontory, is 733 feet (223 m) above the Columbia River on the south side of the Columbia River Gorge. The building shows great sensitivity to its site in the Columbia River Gorge near Corbett,[2] and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

For the peasant, grass is synonymous with wealth.
It serves to feed animals and these are often the sustenance of many households.
In this sense, the human being may be losing sensitivity, but many times an image can make us think.
Thinking in black and white is perpetuate an image. I've tried to do a decent job for the genre. What do you think?

CPR 6947 was built in September 1908 by the Montreal Locomotive Works. Originally numbered 1737, it had a 2-8-0 wheel configuration with 58" drivers and a tractive effort of 37,400 pounds. Classed as an M4H, builders' number 45590, it was built at an original cost of $18,422 (CDN).
This steam locomotive is being restored as a permanent historical exhibit in Sandon. While no plans are being made to make it operational, the restoration work is being done with care and sensitivity in order that it can be restored to operating condition.

Exposure: 1/125 sec and f/5.6, hand-held

Edited under Adobe Lightroom
Fomapan Action 400 has a quite different look and seems to be a suitable alternative for specific intensions and photographic subjects. This classic film emulsion delivers more distinct grain, more sooty dark tones and some blooming of the highlights, which can emphasize the mood of a picture favorably. However, the sensitivity of this film emulsion seems to be lower than box speed, because the shadows tend to lose detail.
The more distinct grain results from the cubic grain structure of the emulsion. In contrast to the softer grain pattern of the tabular grain of modern films like the Ilford Delta or the Kodak TMax film series, cubic grain is more apparent. The softening effect by overexposure is said to result from a poor anti-halation layer. The light bouncing around causes halos and glowing highlights, creeping into the darker areas and tending to wash out the highlights.
The darkening of the foliage and the shadows seems to pretend the higher contrast. Fomapan Action 400 has much more sensitivity to the red end of the spectrum than in the blue and green region, so to speak a built-in orange or red filter. As a result, green leaves and shadows in general come darker in tonality. However, the contrast and graininess can both be reduced by overexposure. Meanwhile, I expose Fomapan 400 at ISO 200 (rather than rating the film at box speed) to open up the shadows for showing more detail.
This film definitely has a unique look, which is much appreciated by many photographers. Together with its deep black and the glowing highlights, Fomapan Action 400 can produce the beautiful and timeless look of classic film emulsions, different from other b&w films and quite different from digital rendering. This film and a vintage camera seem to be a good combo.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I am often surprised with how digital sensors deal with ISO sensitivity and noise. This shot at ISO2000 had significantly easier to manage noise than previous shot I took at ISO1600. Enjoy!
This is a natural/man-made cave with some beautiful rock formations in Kfarhim village, in the Shouf Mountains of Lebanon.
While visiting, I was not allowed to use my tripod, and flash would have ruined the shots. I pushed the sensitivity to ISO 1600 and fired away. You judge the result :-)
The Tarantula Nebula, also known as 30 Doradus and Caldwell 103, is a massive emission nebula with one of the most active star forming regions known within our Local Group of galaxies. This image only captures part of the entire object, with the Tarantula Nebula spanning some 600 light years in diameter and containing more than 800,000 stars and protostars. It lays outside of our Milky Way galaxy in the satellite galaxy called the Large Magellanic Cloud. At a 180 thousand light years away, its size is so massive that if it were as close as is the Great Orion Nebula is from earth, that it would brightly light up half our nights sky.
Thanks for looking, take care.

Nothing says gauche more than rightwing Christian perverts who are inseminated with capitalistic excess. Perhaps it would be fun to see images that personify gauche. What say ye my friends?
Pretty hard to sleep when views like this only come out at night! And this was certainly a late night. I knew the moon would be up on this night until fairly late, and I also knew that the milky way wouldn't be in position until just before the moon set. I was, however, wrong on exactly what time that was going to happen, resulting in me standing around quite a while until conditions were right. In fact, by the time I was finished taking the photo, I could literally hear the lake freezing. What a surreal experience.
This photo was taken using a Canon 5D mark IV and a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8. Putting this together was somewhat complicated - 10 exposures in total. One low sensitivity exposure (ISO 1250) to illuminate the tent, one higher sensitivity shot (ISO 6400) to illuminate just around the tent, then 8 more 20 second exposures at high ISO (8000) to capture as much noise-free detail in the milky way as possible (median stacked in Photoshop). A bit of a pain to do it this way, but the noise is super low because of the technique, and lets you focus stack as well - pin sharp stars, pin sharp foreground. Timing was key - tent/foreground images happened when the moon was on the horizon to give a bit more ambient light, while star images were a few minutes later to reduce the moonlight from washing it out. Processed and compiled in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
Full disclosure - I did not camp as pictured here: that would have been dangerous and inappropriate. I actually set up the tent for the photo and then took it down and camped in a more appropriate location.
Astronomers using the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope combined the capabilities of the telescope’s two cameras to create a never-before-seen view of a star-forming region in the Carina Nebula. Captured in infrared light by the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), this combined image reveals previously invisible areas of star birth.
What looks much like craggy mountains on a moonlit evening is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region known as NGC 3324. Called the Cosmic Cliffs, this rim of a gigantic, gaseous cavity is roughly 7,600 light-years away.
The cavernous area has been carved from the nebula by the intense ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds from extremely massive, hot, young stars located in the centre of the bubble, above the area shown in this image. The high-energy radiation from these stars is sculpting the nebula’s wall by slowly eroding it away.
NIRCam – with its crisp resolution and unparalleled sensitivity – unveils hundreds of previously hidden stars, and even numerous background galaxies. In MIRI’s view, young stars and their dusty, planet-forming disks shine brightly in the mid-infrared, appearing pink and red. MIRI reveals structures that are embedded in the dust and uncovers the stellar sources of massive jets and outflows. With MIRI, the organic, soot-like material on the surface of the ridges glows, giving the appearance of jagged rocks.
Several prominent features in this image are described below.
- The faint “steam” that appears to rise from the celestial “mountains” is actually hot, ionised gas and hot dust streaming away from the nebula due to intense, ultraviolet radiation.
- Peaks and pillars rise above the glowing wall of gas, resisting the blistering ultraviolet radiation from the young stars.
- Bubbles and cavities are being blown by the intense radiation and stellar winds of newborn stars.
- Protostellar jets and outflows, which appear in gold, shoot from dust-enshrouded, nascent stars. MIRI uncovers the young, stellar sources producing these features. For example, a feature at left that looks like a comet with NIRCam is revealed with MIRI to be one cone of an outflow from a dust-enshrouded, newborn star.
- A “blow-out” erupts at the top-centre of the ridge, spewing material into the interstellar medium. MIRI sees through the dust to unveil the star responsible for this phenomenon.
- An unusual “arch,” looking like a bent-over cylinder, appears in all wavelengths shown here.
This period of very early star formation is difficult to capture because, for an individual star, it lasts only about 50,000 to 100,000 years – but Webb’s extreme sensitivity and exquisite spatial resolution have chronicled this rare event.
NGC 3324 was first catalogued by James Dunlop in 1826. Visible from the Southern Hemisphere, it is located at the northwest corner of the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), which resides in the constellation Carina. The Carina Nebula is home to the Keyhole Nebula and the active, unstable supergiant star called Eta Carinae.
NIRCam was built by a team at the University of Arizona and Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center.
MIRI was developed as a partnership between NASA and ESA (European Space Agency), with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory leading the U.S. efforts and a multi-national consortium of European astronomical institutes contributing for ESA.

From an APOD text summary
This pretty cosmic cloud lies some 1,500 light-years away, nested securely within the boundaries of the southern constellation Fornax. Recognized as a planetary nebula, it spans about 3 light-years with its shape and colour being reminiscent of a blue robin's egg. NGC 1360 doesn't represent a beginning though. Instead it corresponds to a brief and final phase in the evolution of an aging star. In fact, visible in this image is the central star of NGC 1360 is known to be a binary star system likely consisting of two evolved white dwarf stars, less massive but much hotter than the Sun. Their intense and otherwise invisible ultraviolet radiation has stripped away electrons from the atoms in the surrounding gaseous shroud. The predominant blue-green hue of NGC 1360 seen here is the strong emission produced as electrons recombine with doubly ionized oxygen atoms.
Thanks for looking.
