Después de casi veinte dias con un serio problema de salud que me ha impedido el normal seguimiento de vuestras fotografías y vuestros comentarios, de nuevo por aquí con fuerza renovada y con el suficiente ánimo como para poder compartir esta imagen, cuyo título expresa lo que siento al verme otra vez en casa....Espero en estos próximos dias, poder volver a coger el habitual ritmo de trabajo, al que ya estaba acostumbrado.

Nick Drake's enormous sensitivity was reflected in the undercurrent written in his lyrics. "Three Hours" explains the idea of longing for something better that cannot be found in the places where we live. Three hours away is what Jeremy needs for his symbolic spiritual journey in search of a better life, in search of someone to be his master or someone to be his slave, symbols of something he wants or something he needs or longs for. To find in a person, refuge from the daily pressures of the city and life. Three hours away is what Jacomo needs for his physical journey, to get away from the city and his routine life in search of a place, a life or a story never heard, so that he can tell it when he returns. The song explains the search, for places or stories, questioning our own lives and decisions, in search of something much deeper.

ABOUT THE PHOTO:
So this photo is a bit of a novelty for me - at least here on Flickr, but it's also a journey back in time in a sense. I've always loved b/w and sepia photography; already as a very young teenager I would go out into the woods with an old Pentax Spotmatic (which I had nicked from my father) whenever it was a foggy day to shoot b/w compositions of sunbeams cutting through the ghostlike trees.
I used films with a sensitivity of at least 1600 (for those of you who remember what that means 😉 ), and the resulting photos had an incredibly fine grain which I loved; I blew them up to the size of posters and hung them on the walls of my teenage man-cave next to Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Slash.
But then I abandoned photography altogether for 20 years, and when I finally picked up a camera again, it was one of the digital kind. Now neither film nor grain played any role in my photographic endeavours - let alone b/w compositions: because the reason I fell in love with shooting pictures once more was the rare and incredibly colorful lizard species that had chosen my garden as its habitat.
It's this species - the Lacerta bilineata aka the western green lizard - that my photo website www.lacerta-bilineata.com/ and also my Flickr gallery are dedicated to, but I've since expanded that theme a bit so that it now comprises the whole Lacerta bilineata habitat, which is to say my garden and its immediate surroundings and all the flora and fauna I find in it.
I like that my gallery and the website have this clear theme, because in order to rise to the challenge of portraying all aspects of a very specific little eco system (which also happens to be my home of sorts), it forces me to constantly explore it from fresh angles, and I keep discovering fascinating new motives as my photographic journey continues.
Which brings me to the horse pasture you see in this photo. This playground for happy horsies lies just outside my garden, and it normally only interests me insofar as my green reptile friends claim parts of it as their territory, and I very much prefer it to be horseless (which it thankfully often is).
Not that the horses bother the reptiles - the lizards don't mind them one bit, and I've even seen them jump from the safety of the fly honeysuckle shrub which the pasture borders on right between the deadly looking hooves of the horses to forage for snails, without any sign of fear or even respect.
No, the reason I have a very conflicted relationship with those horses is that they are mighty cute and that there's usually also foals. The sight of those beautiful, happy animals jumping around and frolicking (it's a huge pasture and you can tell the horses really love it) is irresistible: and that inevitably attracts what in the entire universe is known as the most destructive anti-matter and ultimate undoing of any nature photographer: other humans.
Unlike with the horses, the lizards ARE indeed very much bothered by specimens of loud, unpredictable Homo sapiens sapiens - which makes those (and by extension also the horses) the cryptonite of this here reptile photographer. It's not the horses' fault, I know that, but that doesn't change a thing. I'm just telling you how it is (and some of you might have read about the traumatic events I had to endure to get a particular photo - if not, read at your own risk here: www.flickr.com/photos/191055893@N07/51405389883/in/datepo... - which clearly demonstrated that even when it's entirely horseless, that pasture is still a threat for artistic endeavours).
But back to the photo. So one morning during my vacation back in May I got up quite early. It had rained all night, and now the fog was creeping up from the valley below to our village just as the sky cleared up and the morning sun started to shine through the trees.
And just as I did when I was a teenager I grabbed my camera and ran out to photograph this beautiful mood of ghostlike trees and sunbeams cutting through the mist. There had already been such a day a week earlier (which is when I took this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/191055893@N07/51543603732/in/datepo... ), but this time, the horses were also there.
Because of our slightly strained relationship I only took this one photo of them (I now wish I had taken more: talk about missed opportunities), and otherwise concentrated on the landscape. It was only later when I went through all the photos on my computer that I realized that I actually really liked those horses, even despite the whole composition being such a cliché. And I realized another thing: when I drained the photo of all the color, I liked it even better - because there was almost a bit of grain in it, like in the photos from my youth.
Since then I have experimented quite a bit with b/w and sepia compositions (some of which I will upload here eventually I guess), but this photo here is the first one that helped me rediscover my old passion. I hope you like it even though it builds quite a stark contrast with the rest of my tiny - and very colorful - gallery. But in the spirit of showing you the whole Lacerta bilineata habitat (and also in the spirit of expanding my gallery a bit beyond lizards and insects), I think it's not such a bad fit.

Every year after Carnival, the Barcelona-Sitges Rally of vintage cars is organized. The car caravan runs along the old Costa de Garraf road, with infinite curves along 23 kms. Once in Sitges, the cars are parked on Passeig de la Ribera to be admired and photographed.
Cross processing began to be used in the 90's, mainly in fashion and advertising photography. In other types of photographs such as landscapes, the results were very bad and unreal. They were high contrast images, with saturated but highly distorted colors. Low lights became dominant blue, dark areas were very flat, blues very dark and muted. Sometimes reds turned magenta and highlights tended to yellow or sometimes slightly pink or creamy.
That's the theory of course and it can also be achieved in Photoshop with external plugins or by loading ACV files in a curves adjustment layer. But it's all very subjective because actually, cross development gives a different result depending on the photographic film you use. An Agfa CT Precisa 100 is a high-contrast reel and creates highly saturated colors, while a Fuji Sensia 100 creates softer, lower-contrast tones. But even within the same brand, each reel has its particular characteristics and therefore different cross processes. On a Fuji Velvia 100F ASA, fuchsia and deep magentas dominate and a Fuji Velvia 50 ASA produces bluish images with high contrast, while a Fuji Provia 100F has a tendency to be greenish and yellowish-blue. Each photo reel reacts differently to the cross processing and also depending on other factors such as the degree of preservation of the film, expiry date, the use of other products such as b / w whiteners, etc.
In cross processing, standard ISO films (from 50 to 100 ASA) were generally used, but for this photo I added some variants to experiment: I used an Ektachrome P800 / 1600 Professional EES slide reel (which due to its high sensitivity It was used by sports press photographers), I forced the exposure to 3200 and sub revealed to 1600. Instead of chemicals process for E-6 I used those for C-41. And I used a half-year expired slide film that had been left out of the fridge under normal ambient conditions. Processed on paper Fuji Professional Lux Chrome Metallic.
This car is an Hispano Suiza H6B Cabrio Model. The body was pearl gray metallic, but through the cross process it was greenish. The upper part was darker and more intense green because of the dominant blue of the sky and the dark brown fender was turned into red. No digital media has been used in this photograph. The City of Arts and Sciences (Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències in Valencian and officially) is an architectural complex dedicated to culture and entertainment located in the city of Valencia (Valencian Community - Spain) The complex opened on 9 June 1998 with the opening of "El Hemisférico" one of the buildings in the complex.
This complex was designed by the architects Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, together with the engineers who were the authors of the structural design of the roofs of the "L'Oceanografic" Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro.

From last so many years the Red Rose is considered to be the Symbol of Love.
Red color denotes Blood & Heart which resemble the closeness; the sensitivity of flowers denotes the fragility of a relationship that needs to be cared.
It was supposed to be cloudy & wet this morning on the Isle of Wight, but as you can see the Sun was out and the Dartfords were up at the top singing their hearts out, happy days especially since they seem to be in very short supply this year due to the harsh winter and the National Trust decimating their normal habitat on West Highdown opposite in the name of management & regeneration. You would think they would leave well alone especially given the rarity and sensitivity of this species:-)

Into the Wind, 2011
Other Information: Jane DeDecker's bronze sculpture Into the Wind arrived April 2, 2011 and was placed on a newly landscaped portion of RCA's Sculpture Garden. The piece was made possible by The Margaret Sue Rust Foundation in Memory of Monroe Rust. Facing the prevailing southeast wind, a lone figure is perched on the bow of a boat - evoking a sense of wonder, sensitivity and pride. The figure brings to mind embarking on a personal journey -- which is innately human and especially true for the many artists that visit the Art Center.

Asun García Mainar passed away on Jul. 16th, 2017, after a short but tough illness, leaving behind a trail of light, love, sensitivity and sensibility which will remain in those who met her for good. Her social and ecological commitment broke through grassroots communities, trade-unions, social enterprises... The memory of her companionship does not mollify the pain we feel for her absence, but it reinforces our hope, and it always invites us to turn the energy we waste in criticizing and getting angry into positive feelings and actions.

The study provides a comprehensive description of the spectral sensitivity of the emu, Dromaius novaehollandiae, a member of the group of large flightless birds, the Palaeognathae, that are thought to represent the basal species in avian evolution. More specifically, it provides definitive evidence that these birds are sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light as they possess UV-sensitive cone photoreceptors, ocular media that allow transmission of UV light, and a UV-sensitive visual pigment.

I will add to this and say a sense of the absurd, a sense of play, and a bit of craziness are also part of the mix.
17-august-2021: the shot was taken by the Trieste North Coast (Barcola here), towards the strong storm that affected the far South-East of Slovenia and North-Eastern Gorski Kotar in Kvarner Croatia, last August 17, in the queue of the front that skipped the Gulf of Trieste completely; all this, after a night in search of 1 thunderbolt, forced me to position the tripod in a direction full of obstacles, to catch last lightnings (that are not "easy" as bolt-strikes) before hidden behind the Trieste Karst ridge.
Lightnings, for human eye, are as flashes, given by cloud to cloud or even cloud-ground bolt/strikes, where the ground is hidden, thus illuminating the structural complex of the thundercloud.
The light is given by a lot of lightning-flashes accumulated in about 60 seconds with intermediate lens aperture and ISO 125.
Now, for bolts this long exposure "technique" is appropriate, for lightning it is only an alternative of the "poor photographer", as each lightning has illuminated the cloud at a different time and therefore it is "in motion" losing a lot of detail; such a photo should be taken, perhaps in another context, with a maximum exposure time of 1 second, with an aperture and a lens brightness that only a reflex camera can have, also counting on the fact that it must be increased much the ISO sensitivity, which in a prosumer would create too much grain/noise.
The photo would then take up a couple of flashes at most, making the most of them and keeping the cloud and its structure immobile, thus becoming bright and defined.
I have to do otherwise, but I am satisfied because, between one compromise and another, in the end I shoot in all conditions, taking with me the minimum weight of a prosumer superzoom single lens without having to change the expensive lenses of a reflex with rain, snow, powder and salt.
On the one hand, I lose the opportunity to take shots from a meteorological atlas (lens less bright, less sharp, less sensitive...), but, on the other, I feel extremely light, a bit like my wallet!

It's evening, the sun has already hidden behind the horizon. My wife and I drive slowly along our country roads, and at the end of our first journey during the ending epidemic and the necessary isolation we want to look at the Drzewicki reservoir from the Dąbrówka side. Suddenly we noticed a stork walking majestically through the field. I am slowly driving along a dirt road without stopping the engine - he does not run away, looks and continues to search for his delicacies. I have to hurry, but in order not to scare him away, he is close and there is a great atmosphere, you need to capture her. It is already quite dark and in these conditions I try to get the most out of the equipment. I take the first photos with high ISO sensitivity, burned, I automatically change to the native ISO sensitivity - photo - and I see that a dark photo, I do not have time to think about it, I raise it to ISO 800, then 1250, 1600. I don't know if I have anything, but this moment was extraordinary. Finally, the stork estimates that there is too much traffic around and breaks away, it flies further to the center of the field and we can not see it anymore. I had to wait until the next day to assess what pictures we have - unfortunately, practically all the pictures were out of focus (too long exposure time in difficult conditions despite raising the ISO, with the aperture open to the maximum), I almost gave up, but I remembered that I still have dark photo - this is the photo.
Now I am thinking about how to optimize the technique of taking pictures with this relatively dark lens in order to maximize the quality of the received pictures. I chose it because of the focal lengths, and because it is over 6 times (x 6.44) cheaper than the bright M.Zuiko 300mm f / 4.0, in the hope that in good light I will take great photos with it, and in low light - well well what can be squeezed. But by accident it may turn out that relatively low ISO - maybe not native but something between ISO 400 - 800, combined with the short times required to freeze fast moving objects - will give dark photos that can be easily processed in post-production. I can't wait for the next locations
Maybe this picture is not yet perfectly sharp and technically exemplary, but the pictures are not taken literally, the most important are emotions, mood and narration.
A modern totem on the Sacred Way!
Transformed into an owl, the goddess Athena now "lives" in an apartment building in the center of Athens.
Vangelis Hoursoglou, an artist with a deep love for mural painting and graffiti, presents a new project in the city center, which he calls "H-owl, Athena noctua".
Its inspiration comes from the characteristics of the legendary and mysterious bird that dominates the darkness. He even captures her on the side of an apartment building, so that she faces the townspeople, looking at them with her big eyes.
As it is placed, in the center of the city, it disarms us with its frightened but at the same time full of wonder look. In our thinking, the question "What is he trying to tell us?" arises.
However, the creator states that through his work "despite the bright colors I use, the owl of the Sacred Way "calls out" sadness, loneliness, silence, but also sends us a message of sensitivity and caution. I want to awaken the collective consciousness, through the personal cry, as I am used to in my works, to draw the attention of the inhabitants and make a personal statement".
