This Menhir was found in 2012 in the expansion of an unpaved road, dated between 5,000 and 2,500 BC. I had the opportunity to talk with the person who found it, a few meters from where it is located today. a man who, despite his ignorance about megalithism, had the sensitivity to place it where we can admire it and is very proud to preserve it, told me that he was a little sad because of the little attention that the administrations devoted to this heritage of all Galicians. .

"For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the maters of the instant which, in visual terms, questions and decides simultaneouly. In order to "give a meaning" to the world, one has to feel oneself involved in what frames through the viewfinder. This attitude requires concentration, a discipline of mind, sensitivity, and a sense of geometry." Henri Cartier-Bresson

I will add to this and say a sense of the absurd, a sense of play, and a bit of craziness are also part of the mix.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Asun García Mainar passed away on Jul. 16th, 2017, after a short but tough illness, leaving behind a trail of light, love, sensitivity and sensibility which will remain in those who met her for good. Her social and ecological commitment broke through grassroots communities, trade-unions, social enterprises... The memory of her companionship does not mollify the pain we feel for her absence, but it reinforces our hope, and it always invites us to turn the energy we waste in criticizing and getting angry into positive feelings and actions.
17-august-2021: the shot was taken by the Trieste North Coast (Barcola here), towards the strong storm that affected the far South-East of Slovenia and North-Eastern Gorski Kotar in Kvarner Croatia, last August 17, in the queue of the front that skipped the Gulf of Trieste completely; all this, after a night in search of 1 thunderbolt, forced me to position the tripod in a direction full of obstacles, to catch last lightnings (that are not "easy" as bolt-strikes) before hidden behind the Trieste Karst ridge.
Lightnings, for human eye, are as flashes, given by cloud to cloud or even cloud-ground bolt/strikes, where the ground is hidden, thus illuminating the structural complex of the thundercloud.
The light is given by a lot of lightning-flashes accumulated in about 60 seconds with intermediate lens aperture and ISO 125.
Now, for bolts this long exposure "technique" is appropriate, for lightning it is only an alternative of the "poor photographer", as each lightning has illuminated the cloud at a different time and therefore it is "in motion" losing a lot of detail; such a photo should be taken, perhaps in another context, with a maximum exposure time of 1 second, with an aperture and a lens brightness that only a reflex camera can have, also counting on the fact that it must be increased much the ISO sensitivity, which in a prosumer would create too much grain/noise.
The photo would then take up a couple of flashes at most, making the most of them and keeping the cloud and its structure immobile, thus becoming bright and defined.
I have to do otherwise, but I am satisfied because, between one compromise and another, in the end I shoot in all conditions, taking with me the minimum weight of a prosumer superzoom single lens without having to change the expensive lenses of a reflex with rain, snow, powder and salt.
On the one hand, I lose the opportunity to take shots from a meteorological atlas (lens less bright, less sharp, less sensitive...), but, on the other, I feel extremely light, a bit like my wallet!
Dąbrówka
It's evening, the sun has already hidden behind the horizon. My wife and I drive slowly along our country roads, and at the end of our first journey during the ending epidemic and the necessary isolation we want to look at the Drzewicki reservoir from the Dąbrówka side. Suddenly we noticed a stork walking majestically through the field. I am slowly driving along a dirt road without stopping the engine - he does not run away, looks and continues to search for his delicacies. I have to hurry, but in order not to scare him away, he is close and there is a great atmosphere, you need to capture her. It is already quite dark and in these conditions I try to get the most out of the equipment. I take the first photos with high ISO sensitivity, burned, I automatically change to the native ISO sensitivity - photo - and I see that a dark photo, I do not have time to think about it, I raise it to ISO 800, then 1250, 1600. I don't know if I have anything, but this moment was extraordinary. Finally, the stork estimates that there is too much traffic around and breaks away, it flies further to the center of the field and we can not see it anymore. I had to wait until the next day to assess what pictures we have - unfortunately, practically all the pictures were out of focus (too long exposure time in difficult conditions despite raising the ISO, with the aperture open to the maximum), I almost gave up, but I remembered that I still have dark photo - this is the photo.
Now I am thinking about how to optimize the technique of taking pictures with this relatively dark lens in order to maximize the quality of the received pictures. I chose it because of the focal lengths, and because it is over 6 times (x 6.44) cheaper than the bright M.Zuiko 300mm f / 4.0, in the hope that in good light I will take great photos with it, and in low light - well well what can be squeezed. But by accident it may turn out that relatively low ISO - maybe not native but something between ISO 400 - 800, combined with the short times required to freeze fast moving objects - will give dark photos that can be easily processed in post-production. I can't wait for the next locations
Maybe this picture is not yet perfectly sharp and technically exemplary, but the pictures are not taken literally, the most important are emotions, mood and narration.
Anemone hepatica
The modern scientific name is derived from the Greek. Άνεμος - "wind". Perhaps the literal translation of the name may mean "daughter of the winds." Probably, the name was given to the plant because of its sensitivity to the wind, even with small gusts of which large flower petals begin to flutter, and flowers sway on long peduncles. There was a belief that the anemone opens and closes due to the wind, although in fact anemones open at sunrise and close at night or just in the dark.
“Per me, la macchina fotografica è come un block notes, uno strumento a supporto dell'intuito e della spontaneità, il padrone del momento che, in termini visivi, domanda e decide nello stesso tempo. Per "dare un senso" al mondo, bisogna sentirsi coinvolti in ciò che si inquadra nel mirino. Tale atteggiamento richiede concentrazione, disciplina mentale, sensibilità e un senso della geometria. Honeybee heading towards the Jewelweed
Wikipedia:
Medicinal use for Jewelweed
Along with other species of jewelweed, the juice of the leaves and stems is a traditional Native American remedy for skin rashes, including poison ivy.[7] The effectiveness of its use to prevent the development of a rash after short-term exposure to poison ivy has been supported by peer-reviewed study, and is likely due to the plant containing saponins.[8][9] These studies also found that some individuals have a sensitivity to jewelweed which can cause a more severe rash.
The stem juice has also been used to treat athlete's foot; its fungicidal qualities have been scientifically verified.[10]
A modern totem on the Sacred Way!
Transformed into an owl, the goddess Athena now "lives" in an apartment building in the center of Athens.
Vangelis Hoursoglou, an artist with a deep love for mural painting and graffiti, presents a new project in the city center, which he calls "H-owl, Athena noctua".
Its inspiration comes from the characteristics of the legendary and mysterious bird that dominates the darkness. He even captures her on the side of an apartment building, so that she faces the townspeople, looking at them with her big eyes.
As it is placed, in the center of the city, it disarms us with its frightened but at the same time full of wonder look. In our thinking, the question "What is he trying to tell us?" arises.
However, the creator states that through his work "despite the bright colors I use, the owl of the Sacred Way "calls out" sadness, loneliness, silence, but also sends us a message of sensitivity and caution. I want to awaken the collective consciousness, through the personal cry, as I am used to in my works, to draw the attention of the inhabitants and make a personal statement".
I was walking in the Forest of Good Spirits. Helmi walked beside me and I hoped to find these little marsh violets. I find them particularly beautiful, both because of their color and their sensitivity. I have never seen them growing in groups, but always alone. As you can see, I found them.
I also thought about how wonderful it is that when I am in nature, I get so much more than I seek. Things that could be called gratitude, love, and peace of mind.
The search for the balance of two or more stones requires patience and humility, detachment from the passage of time, immersion in nature, listening to sounds and silence. It is a mental discipline that increases the sensitivity and perception of the exchange of energy between the subject and the stone to be placed in balance as reported in the international artistic manifesto of stone balance
The theme of today's photo tour: shooting in fog in an urban setting. Stone, water, roads, bridges ... There are well-known ways to increase the flow of light in these conditions: increase sensitivity, shutter speed or open the lens aperture ... But there is another one that camera manufacturers (digital) do not mention . You know perfectly well that changing the aperture will lead to a decrease in the depth of field. And increasing the shutter speed to limit the shooting of moving objects. But how to solve this problem?... I will tell about it in my video.
I tried to shoot Jpeg without edit photo for a few weeks.. if I am happy with the result I will continue to shoot jpeg. The Sony a9ii has sensor's back-illuminated design also affords high sensitivity to an extended ISO 204800 with reduced noise for clean image quality in a variety of lighting conditions.
Cinema (1993-2013) and Flashlight (1993-2011). Considering the wintertime date the picture was taken, this was in one of the duo's favorite places, in the bedroom hallway near the wall furnace (mere inches from Cinema's left ear).
This was one of a few small batches of pictures taken with the EOS 7D handheld at ISO 3200 in the short span of time from the day I first started using the camera to the day Flashlight crossed that Bridge that following February, the 23rd. The graininess was considerable by today's standards; under these circumstances, it will have to do.
Grass Pink orchids (Calopogon tuberosus) have a spectacular wide open flower. Their brilliant, jewelled pink appearance would make even the least botanically-interested stop and take notice. It is important to be aware of the ecological sensitivity of the location. I stay on the trails and minimize my impact on the environment at all times. I practice wildflower-friendly photo techniques only, to prevent damage to flowers and their habitat. Copyright © Kim Toews/All Rights Reserved.
"Las personas más bellas con las que me he encontrado son aquellas que han conocido la derrota, conocido el sufrimiento, conocido la lucha, conocido la perdida, y han encontrado su forma de salir de las profundidades. The dark blue represents the total calm simple fact of looking at this color produces a peaceful effect on the nervous system. The Tension decreases, pulse and respiration are settled while the defense mechanisms work to recharge the body. The body relaxes, recovers. On a psychological level, the dark blue develops sensitivity further. It is the color representation of a fundamental biological need: psychologically, pace and satisfaction, on the physiological, tranquility.
I hope that this blue can relax your day,
I have already finished my time relaxing, I dive into the gray ....
See you soon !
** Exploring the Fairlands *** Fashion Show
Performance by Suoh Agency and Mahasiah Model Agency, a fashion show where each model will present a region through an original style. April 29, 2023
Pel de Gratain representing the region of GIRAPHORIA, Giraphoria ~ Sponsored by The Lost Unicorn Gallery.
Lilia Artis and Haveit Neox have created this region under the auspices of The Lost Unicorn Gallery. Many of the events will take place at Giraphoria, an expression of the ideas, feelings and tunes of Fairelands lovers. Images of thick and fast brushstrokes, with giraffes and butterflies as common threads that will extend through the regions that surround the sim. This sensitivity is so delicate and deep that it is only captured by walking around the sim for a while and noticing the small details scattered everywhere, telling us multiple stories...
Pel, our stylist, has recreated Giraphoria with a fantasy where the two main motifs of the sim, the giraffe and the butterfly, are evident. Butterflies are precisely going to be one of the recurring motifs that are the common thread of the Fairelands this year. Its symbolism of being reborn is very important to you as a Relay For Life support. Elements of !dM deviousMind and Naminoke complete this outfit.
Varanasi (Inde) - Un matin, sur le Gange à Varanasi. Cette fois nous sommes fin 2016. Les pèlerins bravent le froid pour faire une balade en barque à moteur sur le fleuve sacré. Je suis également sur une embarcation. Il ne se passe rien. La lumière n'est pas éclatante et la brume est à couper au couteau. Je désespère de prendre une image intéressante. Subitement, les pèlerins jètent du riz et du pain dans l'eau, attirant une nuée de mouettes affamées. Et un rayon de soleil perce miraculeusement les nuages et la brume, réchauffant la scène. Je n'ai plus qu'à monter la vitesse de mon appareil photo pour figer les oiseaux et pour neutraliser le mouvements du bateau qui s'avance rapidement vers moi.
J’augmente aussi la sensibilité pour avoir un diaphragme m'autorisant une bonne profondeur de champ. Je vise et déclenche deux fois. Sur la première photo, une mouette cache la tête du pèlerin qui est de dos et filme avec son smartphone. La seconde, vous l'avez sous les yeux.
Flight of seagulls over the Ganges
Varanasi (India) - One morning, on the Ganges in Varanasi. This time we are at the end of 2016. The pilgrims brave the cold to take a motorboat ride on the sacred river. I am also on a boat. Nothing happens. The light is not bright and I despair of taking an interesting picture. Suddenly, the pilgrims throw rice and bread into the water, attracting a swarm of hungry seagulls. And a ray of sunlight miraculously pierces the clouds and mist, warming the scene. I just have to increase the speed of my camera to freeze the birds and to neutralize the movements of the boat which is advancing rapidly towards me.
I also increase the sensitivity to have a diaphragm allowing me a good depth of field. I aim and shoot twice. In the first photo, a seagull hides the head of the pilgrim who is from behind and films with his smartphone. The second, you have it in front of you.
A sort of super hero of the 21st century. Whether stopping a train with one hand, standing on the top of a mountain at sunset, competing with birds on the heights of any building, walking lonely streets, where mystery is part of her adventure. Wherever she chooses, she leaves her eternalized footprints. Some have the wonderful possibility of meeting her in her daily intimacy, others, when they see her, ask her for a hug,...yes,...I\'ve seen it!!! As a wonderful token of gratitude to such a talented artist. Like every super hero, I am sure that behind her magical and almost iconic avatar, there is a beautiful person, otherwise she could not transmit so much sensitivity, immersed in landscapes, cities, fields, buildings, etc,...I was saying that her little body becomes part of the landscape, in absolute solitude. His greatest habit is contemplation. But like all superheroes, she has a mystique. Like an aura that surrounds her, I saw it. Her walk, her movements are part of an intimate dialogue between her and the place where she is. Like an actor on stage, those of us who were lucky enough to see her in action, sat in our seats, like an open-air theater, and simply watched. So that at the end of her play, we stood up and shouted Bravo!!!! And applaud until our hands hurt.
Thank you very much, nekonuko Nakamori for allowing me to follow you with my camera and ,... well try to capture that essence, which is your personal stamp. Once again, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to upload to my page a photo that will undoubtedly be my favorite, because not all of us are lucky enough to include a super hero in our Stream.
Una especie de súper héroe del siglo XXI. Sea, parando un tren con una sola mano, parada en la cima de una montaña al atardecer, compitiendo con las aves en las alturas de cualquier edificio, caminado calles solitarias, donde el misterio es parte de su aventura. Sea el lugar que ella elija, deja sus huellas eternizadas. Algunos tienen la maravillosa posibilidad de conocerla en su intimidad cotidiana, otros, cuando la ven, le piden un abrazo,…sí,.. lo he visto!! Como una maravillosa muestra de gratitud a tan talentosa artista. Como todo súper héroe, estoy seguro que detrás de su mágico y casi icono avatar, hay un bella persona, de otra forma no podría transmitir tanta sensibilidad, inmersa en paisajes, ciudades, campos, edificios, etc,..Decía que su cuerpito se convierte en parte del paisaje, en absoluta soledad. Su mayor hábito es la contemplación. Pero como todo súper héroe, tiene una mística. Como un aura que la rodea, yo la vi. Su caminar, sus movimientos son parte de un dialogo intimo entre ella y el lugar donde este. Como un actor en plena escena, los que tuvimos la suerte de verla en acción, nos sentamos en nuestras butacas, tal un teatro al aire libre y simplemente observamos. Para que en el final de su obra, pararnos y gritar Bravo!!!! Y aplaudir hasta que nuestras manos nos duelan.
Muchas gracias, nekonuko Nakamori por permitirme seguirte con mi cámara y ,.. Bueno intentar captar esa esencia, que es tu sello personal. Nuevamente infinitas gracias por darme la posibilidad de subir a mi página una foto que, sin duda será mi favorita, pues no todos tenemos esa suerte de incluir a una súper héroe en nuestro Stream.
This aquatic toad appeared on my property in the spring of 2023 and always sun bathed on the same leaves near the water’s edge. He soon became very comfortable in my presence and being photographed. The tiny toad has the circumference of a silver dollar.
I saw the toad nearly every day and would approach slowly, talking softly. The dewlap under his neck would start throbbing upon hearing my greeting (a display of joy and contentment.)
While amphibians obviously don’t understand words, if spoken to with a gentle, musical voice, some can sense intention and emotion in the tonalities. Within the same species, one encounters different personalities exhibiting varying levels of sensitivity.
The photo was taken with the camera eighteen inches from my little friend.
with a storm rolling in yesterday, hoping to capture many lightning strikes, I set up my K3 in the morning with a MIOPS lightning trigger and aimed it to the west. A daytime storm required me to put on an 8 stop neutral density filter on my lens. I set the sensitivity on the MIOPs to 90%. My shutter was at a 1/4 of a second at f/8. After work I was hoping for some great images of some really cool bolts. Not a one did I capture as the strikes were landing elsewhere. But I did get some wonderful images of clouds, all lit from extraneous and distant lightning flashes. Have a super day friends and hope that you enjoy this series of images.
Pigeon, any of several hundred species of birds constituting the family Columbidae (order Columbiformes). Smaller forms are usually called doves, larger forms pigeons. An exception is the white domestic pigeon, the symbol known as the “dove of peace.”
Pigeons occur worldwide except in the coldest regions and the most remote islands. About 250 species are known; two-thirds of them occur in tropical Southeast Asia, Australia, and the islands of the western Pacific, but the family also has many members in Africa and South America and a few in temperate Eurasia and North America. All members of the family suck liquids, rather than sip and swallow as do other birds, and all pigeon parents feed their young “pigeon’s milk,” the sloughed-off lining of the crop, the production of which is stimulated by the hormone prolactin. The nestling obtains this “milk” by poking its bill down the parent’s throat.
Pigeons are gentle, plump, small-billed birds with a skin saddle (cere) between the bill and forehead. All pigeons strut about with a characteristic bobbing of the head. Because of their long wings and powerful flight muscles, they are strong, swift fliers. Pigeons are monogamous; i.e., they mate for life, and the survivor accepts a new mate only slowly. The female lays two glossy white eggs in a flimsy nest that barely holds them. The female generally incubates the eggs by night, the male by day. The incubation period is 14 to 19 days, but the young are cared for in the nest for another 12 to 18 days.
Homing pigeons (Colomba livia) possess a group of neurons that are used to help the birds process changes in the direction, intensity, and polarity of magnetic fields around them. The sensitivity of the pigeons to these physical properties allows them to determine their directional heading and altitude by using Earth’s magnetic field. The identity of the physical structure within the pigeon’s body that collects this magnetic field information and sends it to the brain remains unknown, but some scientists suspect that it may lie within the inner ear
Did you know, to complete his vision, Renzo Piano used extra white glass which gives the tower a lightness and a sensitivity to the changing sky around it?
The Shard’s colour and mood are constantly changing according to the weather and seasons.
Every so often I dabble in textures ... but only when I think that the subject warrants the treatment. At times I tire of the many textured photos so I try to use the technique sparingly myself and with a degree of sensitivity, always attempting to keep the material varied. Hopefully I've achieved that here .... but I'm still learning. Thanks to all for your kind comments, faves, advice and even just stopping by to have a look.
I confess that on this photo I simply drew a blank attempting to come up with a witty title so I just named it as it is.
William Eggleston Mystery of the Ordinary
In the twilight, the shadows of the plants grow mysteriously along the wall of the house. In front of this shadow theater stands a metallic-lilac Cadillac, on whose lustrous paint the last rays of the sun dance. The brick-lined flowerbed, the shrubs planted in it, and the straw-woven blinds in the window front with their rusty colors complement this image composition, which at the same time radiates an eerie calm.
In a career spanning over five decades, William Eggleston has come to be recognized for almost single-handedly elevating color photography to the status of fine art. Along with Stephen Shore and Evelyn Hofer, Eggleston was one of the first photographers to recognize the distinctive power of color and its unique capacity to create pictures that continuously challenge the everyday. A blue bouquet on the door of a house, a colorfully tiled building façade, a ceiling painted glossy blood red: the intensity of the color alone, and Eggleston’s abiding sensitivity to it, was a formal and analytical provocation.
You don't have to compose a masterpiece every time, but I think the challenge of art is always searching for something different, searching for a new sensitivity, a new perspective, a new vision.
