Peaceful Bokeh Wednesday
This is a lane made from Fraxinus Excelsior, the European Ash. This tree is widely distributed over Europe and even over other places in the world. For the eye, it is a nice deciduous tree and often a valuable landscape contribution. Moreover, its wood is valuable and very popular for many purposes (there was even an ancient Volvo car with a car-frame made of Ash-wood). There is only one problem and that is its sensitivity for a particular fungus. If the tree is infected, it will accumulate branches without leaves and in the end it will die. The fungus is very much present in Belgium and the Netherlands since around 2012 (hence very recently). Nowadays, in rows of trees (not visible in this photo, but visible in the previous photo of this lane, taken from greater distance - flic.kr/p/2oJQL64), you will often see healthy trees and already affected trees.
However, some trees in some row’s will remain healthy even while most other trees are affected. These trees have a natural resistance against the fungus and can be used to breed new Ashes that also are resistant. With these techniques, when carefully executed, the Fraxinus Excelsior will stay with us in the landscape.

Without the health risks of air pollution, fresh air feels great for our lungs. Lichens love clean air too - in fact, their sensitivity to air pollution means they make great air quality indicators. Like small signposts, these curious organisms can tell us a lot about the air we are breathing. Lichen should not be removed from trees as removing it does more harm than good. The lichen is not hurting the tree, so there's no reason to remove it. In fact, you're likely to injure the bark by trying to remove the lichen, ultimately causing damage to the tree and providing entryways for diseases and pests.

Der Tastsinn entwickelt sich beim Menschen als erster Sinn ab dem zweiten Schwangerschaftsmonat der Embryonalentwicklung im Mutterleib. Die anderen Sinne, wie beispielsweise das Gehör (Auditive Wahrnehmung) und das Sehen (Visuelle Wahrnehmung), entwickeln sich deutlich später.
The term sense of touch also sensibility, feeling or feeling describes the ability of living beings to perceive touch, also known as tactile stimuli. The basis of the sense of touch is the mechanical part of surface sensitivity.
In humans, the sense of touch develops as the first sense from the second month of pregnancy when the embryo develops in the womb. The other senses, such as hearing (auditory perception) and sight (visual perception), develop much later.
Here in the Midwest, we consider any town bigger than say fifty thousand a city. You may not know it from my photo stream but I do a huge amount of urban work. I thoroughly enjoy urban landscape, social landscape, and what many people refer to as democratic eye type stuff. It’s a different animal all together than the stuff you usually see me post. It takes a different sort of awareness and sensitivity. It’s a real challenge, adding to the thrill of the hunt for impactful images. Such photos have to subtly make a statement which resonates with the viewer. It’s all so very subliminal as in advertising work. The human psyche is much involved. It helps to be a little like Stephen Shore or William Eggleston to be effective. Unconventional thinking or non conformity helps immensely. I know this is not everyone’s cup of tea so thank you for allowing me to indulge myself. Let me know what you think. Cheers!

I think you do a wonderful job of giving our country a bit of elegance, charm, and sensitivity, that otherwise seems to be missing these days. So, you are an amateur photographer, like me, who plays with editing to try to improve the aesthetics of your photos - so do I! I love the photos you release of your family, having 3 children of my own and a marriage that didn't work, I am envious of your togetherness. II imagine Louis was holding a toy you thought was a bit out of place? I too would have thought nothing of trying to remove it, and I too would have left 'evidence of tampering with pixels' - if you had wanted it to be perfect you would have got someone else to do it. Please don't let the critics and commentators stop you - it is refreshing to see real people in your position acting as examples to the rest of us. You must get so tired of the criticism......Most of us simply love you!!

The sunset at Changi today was as spectacular as usual. It's been a few weeks i didn't visit my favourite sunset spot. The Changi Kelong Walk wooden platform has been closed for renovation. Estimated completion date is mid April.
My weekend will be fully packed with photo outings, hopefully can get some decent shots to post it here.

So i thought i would give it some more care re-editing and see what was left behind. Overall, i think it looks pretty cool, i especially like the reflections in the water of the clouds. I think this would be impossible to capture on film - the light sensitivity has to be pretty good to get the light reflecting off the inside of the cave

Given that Koalas sleep for up to 20 hours a day, we were lucky to find this juvenile Koala awake.
One interesting fact about koalas is that they are the only non-primates with fingerprints.
The unique patterns and loops in koala fingerprints, like those found in humans, suggest they play a role in tactile sensitivity and grip, allowing koalas to better explore and consume slippery eucalyptus leaves.
