The area around Bardon Mill still has a number of semaphore signals. These are operated from Bardon Mill Signal Box. The box is not normally manned with all running signals pulled off for through working.

With the speed limit sign failing to guess the class of locomotive approaching, 67016 trundles towards Carlisle with an 0Z10 route familiarisation run, prior to the traditional autumn ECML diversions which will be taking place on a couple of weekends during November.

In the summer of 2013 coal traffic was considerably more buoyant than even 2 years later, let alone compared to their virtual extinction in 2020.

With the third coal train in less than 2 hours, 66607 draws forward from Rugeley power station towards Rugeley Town station, waiting for a passenger train to clear before heading south with 4V47, the 1115 Rugeley to Stoke Gifford.

The semaphores here were controlled by Brereton Sidings signal box, located south of Rugeley Town station. The Chase line was resignalled later in 2013, with electrification and W10 gauge enhancement completed in December 2018.

This is for Gionni and Dianna, your stunning work has been an inspiration, so the other night I decided to have a go at HDR. i hope I've done justice to it. This image I posted when I first joined Flickr, and it's always been a favourite of my, but I.m just blown away by the endless possibilities with HDR..

i love it. Please give me your honest opinions, where I've gone wrong and how I can improve it. Iknow it's early days and I have a lot to learn.

Over the bank holiday weekend W25 signal at Whittlesea was removed as part of the final works to re-signal the area.

Due to its proximity to the level crossing (which remains with its manually operated wooden gates), the signal has not been replaced.

Other signals in the area have been replaced by LED colour lights in a like-for-like replacement which retains control from Whittlesea Signal Box.

Do you remeber when semaphores were still in use at Penzance? I always feel that locations were in some way 'lesser' once the old semaphores had gone.

Here we see unnamed Class50's 50038 50040 at Penzance on 9-9-77.

I had moved to Plymouth in August 1977, so the delights of Cornwall lay before me. Most of my photos from that era are in the ownership of my friend Martin Loader so you will have to wait for him to put them on one of his sites. You can see a few of these on Hondawanderer.co.uk under the Tom Derrington Railway Archive section.
