Seljalandsfoss

Seljalandsfoss is unique in that you can walk all the way behind the waterfall. There is a *lot* of spray so be prepared to get wet!

We stopped at Seljalandsfoss on our way home from Trans Atlantic off road challenge in Kirkjubæjarklaustur 26th of May. When we arrived the time was around 22:00, and the evening sun was beautiful. It's golden color was everywhere.

On our last day in Iceland we did the South Coast Tour ... heading south towards Vik, the southernmost town on the island ... passing through a very different part of Iceland.

From Reynisfjara we headed back towards Reykjavik, making a couple of stops en route, one of those being the waterfall known as Seljalandsfoss.

A unique waterfall in the river Seljalandsá, about 30 km west from Skógar. It is 60 meters high with a foot path behind it at the bottom of the cliff, but with a thin cascade. It is the only known waterfall of its kind, it's possible to walk behind it.
