Self-portraits, for me, are an extremely vulnerable and intimate process. It helps me feel more confident and more open to loving myself; in a way that words can't. It helps me to heal from an old trauma, little by little, to reclaim my body as my own.

I usually don't do head shots like this, but I thought now would be a good time to do one. :)

so... weird quote i know, but it struck a chord in me because i suffer from this.. caring too much what others think.. and putting much of my self worth value in that..

so of course doing a 365 is a tricky thing... wanting love and validation from others... as if i am saying..."please tell me i am worthy in your eyes!!" well, in some ways, it's true and i do seek that... that i'm still attractive, that i am artistic.. that i am a good photographer, that i edit in a cool and creative way... and i wonder--- is there anything wrong with that? is it unhealthy to want these things?... is it any different that a regular photographer who seeks validation for non-self portrait work? they still want to be told the same things, that they are talented, artistic, creative....

so the reason for my thought process and post came from me struggling with the challenge of the 365.. and really feeling guilty about posting continuous shots of myself...as if i am saying.."look at me! don't you think i'm something special?!?" i am so NOT saying that... but i am wanting that...in reality i guess.. LOL sad... ok... the truth is out
