I was depressed for the past few days. Still am now. But I learned that I have support around me.So, the show must go on!
I put on my hat and I present you my self portrait. For the past few days, the shots are all over the table still life photography. So I thought I should at least put something alive in this #project365 (although I more or less looks half dead)
Anyway, I would like to thank my darling Sze Mun for helping me out with this photograph.

Self Portrait

I love when an idea is quick and easy. I shot this in about 10 minutes and the edit took about an hour. It hasn't even been 24 hours since I started. So many of my portraits are well thought out and take lots of time and thoughtful preparation and post editing, so its nice when I have an idea that can be done start to finish in one day.
I've had this idea for about 3 weeks and was born out of an idea for a new series to take the meaning of "self portrait" to another level. I have taken self portraits for about 5-6 years now and at times my camera on its tripod is just as much "me" as me and is just as important in the process. So when I started to think of ways to showcase "self portrait", the idea to merge these two ideas was born and create the ultimate self portrait of myself :)

I am trying to do a self portrait with my cintiq. I struggled so decided to to it from a picture and to post it in the JKPP group to see what other members could make of it and what I can learn.
I picked up lots of tricky things to draw (at least for me) to make it interesting:
- fairly neutral look (no pulling faces)
- loose hair
- tilted head
- apparent teeth
- hand visible
On this occasion I learn that apparently "female photographers have the task easy, because the can take a photo of themselves in socks, and they will end up in explore" I don't think it is true, but this is an experiment I will have to do sooner or later ;-)
The framing is a bit tight, but it is hard to control when it is a self portrait, jumping in front of the camera by yourself with a timer... If only I had M. Flibble's talent!
Without the talent, I used his lights, though:
Big Bowens Gemini Pro 500 with softbox camera left at 45 degrees, set on 1, Second Bowens with smaller softbox camera right also at 45 degrees and set on 3. All triggered by cable, as I was taught to.
