Image taken on the 10th of May, 2021, Kew Gardens, London (ignore the Exif data). Please see my previous images and comments on this sculpture ("Leaf Spirit"). In this close-up it is a bit easier to detect the design principle of this work of art. The human face is composed of leaves (imprints or cutouts). The borders or limits of the face are 'fuzzy' and merge with the botanical live forms around it. I read this sculpture as an acknowledgment of a new perception of reality (in the West at least): the concept of the individualised and autonomous self has come to an end. Rather, the self is connected to everything around it. Our face is only a momentary surface expression of the history of life and cosmos. To express this, the sculptor used a term taken from animism and its spirit worlds. The Upanishads would also be capable of providing terminology for this new experience (such as 'Tat Tvam Asi').

This weeks Theme is - Self Care. Photo Club meets every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. slt. Feel free to join, everyone is welcome, with or without a picture.
Self care does not always have to be big, expensive or complicated. I have learned that less is often more.
Sometimes, it is as simple as stepping outside, breathing in the evening air, and watching the sunset. Just letting myself soak in the present moment.
There is something deeply calming about watching the sun set by the sea. As the sky softens into shades of gold and rose, and the waves gently meet the shore, the world seems to quiet down.
With the rhythmic sound of the ocean, the salty air, and the cool breeze brushing against my skin, it feels like nature is reminding me to breathe again.
My thoughts begin to slow. The weight on my chest and shoulders lifts just a little. And in that stillness, I feel my soul begin to soften.
There is something truly healing about moments like these, the way the sky shifts through colors, like it is learning to let go of the day with grace.
It does not ask anything of me. It just is. And in that silence, I find a kind of inner peace and a quiet contentment that is hard to put into words.
So if the day feels heavy or my mind is tired, I remind myself to be gentle. Sometimes all I need is to step outside and watch the sky. Let the sunset hold space for me. It is a small act of self care, but it does so much good for my mind, heart, and soul.
I deserve moments like that. 🌅💛So does everyone else too..

Most of the time, I literally hate to take photos of myself, or even to be on photos in general. But last week, I convinced myself I had to try at least once a studio self portrait.....and this is the result..... Me, myself and I.
Took it a while back when I was in Japan. I was really excited about taking photos in the snow but it never snowed :(. More photos to come!

The spring dalesbus season is now operating, the main change is the firstgroup flirtation with the services is sadly over. East Yorkshire & Reliance now operate the Hawes route still with deckers and a slightly amended timetable. Here Reliance BJ11EAE climbs out of Cray and onto "the tops" before the decent into Richmondshire.
Hi Flickr universe! Have not had much time to post here lately since I have been preoccupied with my new website and blog that I wrote about earlier in the summer:
It is getting less time consuming after initial website creation and set up, so I hope to get more time to post more on Flickr too soon. I do love the blog part of it as it gives me a chance to post more images from some particular outing in one post vs one image here on Flickr.
I hope everyone's summer is going well and you are taking your cameras everywhere and taking new exciting images. I have been exploring photographing butterflies with different lenses to see the differences and similarities. Hoping to write about it soon and post some pictures. Turned out I had no images of butterflies taken with my Pentacon 50 lens!!! I had to run out and correct that asap. ;-)
For now, this self portrait from yesterday I took on my phone. :-)
