Smile-on-Saturday ... Selective Colour

American sumac--peeking through--at the UC Botanical Garden.

Experimenting with "in camera" selective colour.

A world of shadows: light and dark, new and old, quiet and busy, earth and water, little and large...

Un mundo de sombras: luz y oscuridad, nuevo y viejo, tranquilo y ocupado, tierra y agua, pequeño y largo...

I really love it when the afternoon sun shines through some branches and illuminates one flower only among many others ! This hybrid Begonia grows among Portulaca and tries to emerge from the bright Portulaca blooms, which are slowly but surely taking over the whole space. But the sun kissed this pretty, softly coloured flower :)

Such a happy face :)

Daily Dog Challenge: Selective Focus

Took this at the Nieuwe Meer (Lake) hoping to get some good reflective shots, it was an extra bonus when the lady came along the bridge and stopped with her dog, which I cropped out of the frame, used selective color for more effect, happy with the outcome.

Crazy Tuesday theme for this week is "Selective Color"

ILCE-7M2 + Vivitar 55mm F/2.8 macro

A beach in Southbourne, with a very short piece of fence - for Fence Friday!

"If you can smell the street by looking at the photo, it's a street photograph" - Bruce Gilden

And I actually love the metallic smell of the first rain on the street.

P.S. tried the selective color out of curiosity about the "how to," but now that I know I can, I can honestly say that I actually dislike it....

Selective Multicolour version for Smile on Saturday

American Ranch, Prescott, Arizona, July 2022.

Happy "Looking close... on Friday!" with "flora selective focus".

... and thanks a lot for your views, faves and comments! :-)

We went hiking in the hills behind Saratoga, California, where a trail winds alongside the Sanborn Creek. It's amazing how quickly you can escape the hustle of Silicon Valley and find yourself in peaceful wilderness, almost entirely alone.

I processed balanced, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photos from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated the image, and added some negative vignetting. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Thank you for visiting - ♡ with gratitude! Fave if you like it, add comments below, like the Facebook page, order beautiful HDR prints at qualityHDR.com.

Testing out something a little more artistic for a Milky Way shot, choosing selective colors for what I think are the interesting aspects of a given MW shot. For this shot I thought the intense green airglow and new spring vegetation growth combined with the aurora from the Memorial Day weekend storm were "highlights" of the shot. I also decided to selectively color the Rho Ophiuchi complex, North American Nebula, and Sadr region. Thoughts?
