Just trying to get the hang of doing selective colour images

I always find Rose-Nip's are fun to Play with, doing Selective Focusing.

Le coquelicot se dresse dans un champ. Rien à faire. Toi tu es là, à essayer de remarquer les autres fleurs, mais lui reste là, campé dans ton regard. Et il peint le rouge comme un dieu.

Trying out a newly-acquired 150mm lens.

You can't beat a good bit of macro. Plus I love depth of field.

Bits and pieces aboard the SS John W Brown, docked at Baltimore, Maryland

I just did this quickly in picnik, turned out all right I think....

I didn't have anything new to post so this is from a few days ago.

below is the original.

I'm trying to keep the blog updated. I just posted my first "post process" type of tutorial. It's about using layer masks and selective sharpening which I did on this image. If you are curious you can take a peak at the blog.

The blog has help me try to be a little more creative. I think after the 365 I got a bit lazy. Hopefully this will inspire me to get some great images in the future.

A very young female Westy on the beach at Ayre.

I'm dating myself, but this is a pop bead bracelet I have had since I was a kid. I used to have enough to make a necklace but lost all but these. The red ones are the only red I have, the others are blue, green, one yellow and two dirty white. For those who have never seen or heard of these, they have a little nib on one side that fits into a hole on the other side of one and they would make a faint popping sound as you pulled them apart.

thx @all for watching, commenting and favorites my pictures :-)

The flower leaves that I removed the color from were an orange/green. They didn't look right in color with the rest of the image in selective color. I'm not sure they look right in B & W either. But I like how much the purple pops here. Not sure this image really works though.

Strolling along the waterfront

I like macro photography, even though my friends advise me that other photography is more interesting than macro photography. I like the shallow depth of field in macro photography because the background gets soft and blurry, we called it Bokeh. I like macro lenses which have image stabilization so I can take 1/25 sec and still have sharp images, but I took this image with my Tokina 100, F2.8 macro lens which doesn’t have the image stabilization, so I used 1/160s shutter speed. The benefit of lenses with image stabilization are that we can take pictures with lower ISO, so we will have less noise in the images
